I have a portable A/C I use to cool a 250sqFt room at my cabin when it's really hot. It was like ~$260. All of my windows are casement in that room. It works quite well to cool things off.
Be advised that I have found that at least on my 2022 Aliner, the zamp connector's polarity is REVERSED from standard SAE. Sneaky move on zamp's part to force you to use their way more expensive solar panels. You can buy an adapter for like 2 bucks to fix it.
Hey thanks for the effort, really. Unfortunately, that's not quite the same unit, rebranded or not. The unit I was inquiring about is this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09J16G1LV?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
The bougeRV unit on the discussion you linked to does not have integrated...
Yep, you correct, reefer. I meant this (in jest):

Edit, on further research, the former is the primary usage. lol.
Your Honda is easily convertible to dual-fuel, you know. I like propane as a fuel, but when I boondock, I need it to run my fridge and heater and for cooking. Propane also has a lot less energy, and has a larger power loss at higher altitudes.
I am unfamiliar with the E02 error. I haven't experienced any errors yet with my setup. I can only speak to my experience with my rebel 50aH and the SOK 100aH. They have both been trouble free for the period I have had them. (1 year rebel, 4 months SOK).
I see from the manual that the E02 error...
Well, the HQST mppt controllers can be linked together, and are quite reasonable.

Just sharing my absorption fridge experiences. I have had 2. A 3-way (12V, 120, gas), which stunk, wouldn't work hardly at all, and my current, a 120V and Propane Dometic DM2672. It's a completely different experience. It's a great fridge. Uses almost nil electric on gas. Works as good or better...
Maybe so, but you can most likely make up the small difference by simply buying a cheap power station (~$100) and 100 watt panel (~$60). Then you avoid the hassle of cobbling together an inverter, charge controller, battery, and ac charger and sourcing a box to mount it all in neatly. Any...
I have a rebel 50ah battery myself. I keep it in an battery box with onboad fuses and 12V ports. Just out of curiosity, why would you want to mount solar panels to your tent? "In the future I will likely go with some tent mounted solar panels".
I'm a little confused with this thread. The folks I know with very large 5th wheel RV's and other large TT's all seem to get by quite well with no more than <=4500 watt gennys when boondocking. (including PV, of course). With my own small (18ft) trailer, I run the 13K AC and micro with a 2200...
Hmmm. Exactly how many 12volt portable fridges do you actually own at the present? I own both an ICECO and a bougeRV. I have had both for over a year now, and have had zero issues. The iceco has a german made compressor, and a 4 year warranty. The bougeRV has a 3 year warranty.
Your car analogy...
The Bluetti AC180 goes on initial sale tomorrow, for $799. 1800 watt inverter, but only 1152wh battery. But it weighs 35lbs, so a very handy weight. I can see this being very useful for camping and around my farm for remote power tools.
In western nebraska/South Dakota/eastern Wyo, Waterfowl hunters use exactly that to keep water open on a pond in the most severe conditions. There are ready made rigs to bubble or even floating circulating pumps. Gotta be the best solution to this problem.
So, from what I have read/watched, the safety risks for lifepo4 are from cell puncture or short circuit. Is this true? Is out gassing almost nil, or could there be any possible perils from that? I'm guessing minimal. Lifepo4 batteries aren't known to spontaneously combust, are they?
I haven't...
But if you already have a simple 100 watt or better panel, and a battery? I paid $192 for my cheap Chinese 12volt fridge. Takes up very little space, and consumes ~130 Wh per 24 hours. So, for less then your choice, you get the convenience of a portable fridge that weighs less than 30lbs. It's...
Something seems amiss here, the boost voltage for my two stand alone lifepo4 chargers is 14.4 and 14.6 respectively. Are you able to charge with a dedicated charger?
Amen. Sometimes, the simplest possible solution is the right solution.
a small ecoflow of bluetti + 100 watt panel is way easier to deal with than a battery + inverter + charge controller. And actually cheaper. And small DC compressor "cooler" style fridges have advanced lots in the last 5...
I dunno. Have you had a look on amazon lately? I don't see that much of a price difference between a dorm fridge and a small 12v compressor fridge. A little, but not that much.
Here are a few:

Just curious, have you ever owned an absorption fridge? If so, have you measured the power draw in AC mode? Yes, they are power hogs running on ac, everybody knows that. I did measure mine yesterday, just for fun. 325 watts. However, I can get 2 weeks on a 20lb propane bottle, with no electric...
Alrighty. I thought you said 5K watts, not 3, but maybe I wasn't paying attention. On my off toad trailer, I have 200watts solar, + 600 portable in needed, 206Ah LifePo4 + 2000 watt inverter if needed. Obviously, I don't run the 13K AC off the batts, and rarely the micro. Water heater and...
Ok, just attempting to come up with a standard set of rules. So, we should then place two ambient temperature gallon water jugs in the fridge at start, and we expect the fridge will also be at ambient temperature. Sound about right? Or, should the time-to-operating temperature a separate test...
Well, at least so far, it's been a handy little unit. I have other, larger pps's , but the EB3A is just so convenient, and my only one with UPS. I hope they get the bugs worked out.
Somebody said you could get 5 AC fridges for the price of an entry level DC fridge. This is the cheapest fridge I could find at Wally-world, maybe somewhere else is cheaper...
I bet you get it sooner. I use my eb70 lots camping, the inverter has enough power to run my single serve coffee maker, and I also use it to run a compressor DC fridge. I have over 400 watts of folding panels, so I can boondock almost indefinitely with the 100ah SOK house battery and the bluetti...
Maybe you should take a chill pill, and stop being triggered by a simple "look", Pal. You are the one who was triggered by a simple answer. Fridges are one of the most discussed and beat to death subjects around here. How about coffee makers? What brand of single serve coffee maker do you use...
Please see my original post, and also a more recent one. I have been using both of my DC fridges extensively for the last year, as I have stated before. the argument that the compressor is cheap is compared to what? A $79 dorm fridge? really? My 50Ah rebel lifepo4 battery takes even less notice...
Please show us the make and model of your inverter, and how much you paid for it. That must be factored in., as well as the warranty. Please keep us posted as to how much you use it and the failure date. HaHa
Question. If a person posting on this forum has a pecuniary interest in promoting a particular product, should that fact be disclosed to the forum at large?? Or, is it already??
12V portable fridges aren't expensive at all: https://www.bougerv.com/collections/car-refrigerator/products/12v-portable-refrigerator-30-quart
If set to cool just below 40f, you can consume as little as 135Wh/24 hours. A single 100 watt panel will give you almost unlimited power when used with...
I have had an EB70 for about the last 6 months. It's a good little unit, for what it is. I use it to run my compressor cooler fridges and it also has just enough inverter to run my travel single serve coffee maker. It will also run a small hairdryer that I have on low setting. My kids love the...
Yes, indeed, it is foolish. It is a fact that companies employ people for the specific purpose of disparaging a competitor's product, to sew the FUD, as it were. It's pretty obvious with a lot of products. It's been a part of marketing practices for a long time, however unethical is really is...
What kind of steak is that? It looks like chuck roast to me. Anyways, my bougeRV 23q fridge uses exactly 38wh per 24hours cooling to below 40 degrees in 75 degree weather. When there is even a little bit of sun about during the day, even a small battery can keep me running indefinitely.
Running...
In theory, the BMS should take care of the balancing. If it's a sealed case, that would be the only way. One cycle down to 0 shouldn't seriously damage the battery, the BMS should have a low voltage cutoff anyways. it sounds like you have something else going on. Is the battery covered by warranty?
I don't see anything on my list that is $800???? Look, I tried to be as conservative as possible with the estimated prices, just to avoid the niggling that you are doing right now. When the OP wrote about diy, he used an example of a 12v battery. A diy system is in any event, not even slightly...
So, let's debunk the argument for a AC fridge, at least for grid down or camping. OnTheRoadAgain says he is using 300wh for 10 hours on a Jackery. (it isn't stated how this was measured, I have a Jackery too, they don't measure watt hours used, just percent power remaining)
I use a kill-a-watt...
The AC200L is already 48 volts internally. You can add additional batteries at will. The OP was looking for a small system. A quality power station is a simple and easy solution to the smaller needs the OP spoke of.
OP: "I want to power a cargo trailer (6x12) so the demands won't be great...
