Hi,
I know this is an older post, but if the converter was wired into a 15 amp breaker, is putting a 15 amp fuse inside the transfer switch (before the wires for the converter are connected) ok? What type of fuse (120V) should be used.
Thank you
Hi @turkington
Old thread but have a question.
When you disconnected the AC input, didn't that also remove power to the 12V circuits since it's a combo converter/charger that cna't be seperated.
Yes, I'm almost done with my install. I noticed the other poster used 2/0 wire from his switch where I'm using 10 AWG to my WFCO from the battery. I'm almost certain it's fine...but it made me wonder.
One change from my diagram is my Class T fuse is 250 amps not 200 amps.
Hi, Total newbie here. I bought a renogy 100W solar panel with the voyager controller. The voyager control shows amp hours. Is there a way to determine how many watts the solar panel is producing. Does it keep any kind of total? Does the amp hours reset every time it is powered off...
Hi,
Can an external solar port that is wired to the batteries also be used to hook up a battery charger ?
My battery charge (Noco 5 amp) has an adpater that can be plugged into the SAE/Zamp plug. The wiring is 10 AWG.
My batteries are inside, somewhat hidden and difficult to directly...
@Zwy tks..but why? What makes it prefered?
It sort of makes sense to me to the switch before. If you want to turn power off to fuse to replace it..you have to disconnect the battery.
Hi,
For any Electrical Engineers or Designers in the group, can a 110V outlet be split between land power and power supplied by an inverter? Does this go against any NEC code requirement? Would an inspector not approve it?
Thank you
Hi,
So, I'm clear you remove the wires circled in the picture and connect the IP22 output there?
That will charge the batteries and run the 12V circuits? Correct
Tks
Hi,
Quick smart shunt question.
I have my system on shore power. When I turn on devices, the smart shunt shows an increase in power and amps. Even though it's not running on battery only, is that how it works (reconize the loads)? Just making sure I have things wired ok. I am certain it's...
Sorry..Maybe I'm a bit confused...and to make sure I understand.
I'm removing the converter postive and negative wire (which are 14AWG) from the WFCO power center (that goes to the breaker) and wiring it directly to the transfer switch. The breaker is no longer in line. Which up stream...
ok..but why after? what is the technical reason...
If you look at this, the switch is after the battery.

@HRTKD one more follow up, in the link you just posted from Victron, the inverter has a mega fuse also after the switch, but in the diagram for this post there is only the Class T before the fuse. Is the second fuse required?
Thank you,
Hi,
I'm looking for input to confirm my RV batteries are wired in parallel and wired correctly for the solar controller and plug. I received it this way. I can not see behind the battery switch and assume both positive wires (from the battery) go to the same terminal on the battery switch...
Hi, I'm changing over to lithium batteries and adding a 2000W inverter in a travel trailer. Looking for any feedback/comments on my proposed install.
In order to keep power for the electric trailer brakes , I'm splicing into the 12V line from the power distribution center (WFCO) that goes...
Thank you, I'm in the middle of installing a 2000W inverter, 2 x 105 Ah battery and a transfer switch in a small travel trailer. I have a 250 amp Class T. This all becomes confusing as there are so many set ups I see while trying to follow these threads. Sorry to hijack this thread and...
The circled wires (red and white) in the photo go to the charge/converter. That photo is from a WFCO video that is taken apart.
There is a red wire on the #6 fuse that goes to the battery bank.
@Charleswgibbs Yes, the external solar plug is for a second portable solar panel with a controller.
I can't explain why is wired this way. It is the way the RV came to me. Attach is the switch. Yes it turns all loads and power off inside the RV.
Maybe the negatives are not wired to the...
I have a small teardrop with a 8735P converter. I'm almost sure the wire coming out from it is only 10 AWG..but I'll double check. That is why I went with 10 AWG.
One other question. (sorry), I have a victron IP22 charger wired to my busbars (with 6 AWG wire). Should I have fuse protection...
Hi,
I am far from an expert, but how did you come up with a 150A fuse for your inverter?
The sizing goes 2,200/0.9 (assume90% efficency)= 2444 W; Divide by battery voltage; = 203A ; X 1.25 Safety Factor = 254A I guess you say your max load is 330W? Then why such a large inverter? What...
Hi,
I'm also new trying to follow and understand..a couple of questions:
1. So I'm clear..(which I'm not) if a battery BMS has short circuit protection, no addtional fuse is required for the battery itself? Correct? Only the one fuse protection is required for the inverter.
2. Is there...
Hi,
I have a small camper with OEM WFCO 8735P (non lithium) and inverter, transfer switch (GoPower T-30).
I currently have the AC wires of the WFCO converter/charger wired into the transfer switch so it only charges the battery when on shore power.
I want to upgrade to a stand alone...
@Charleswgibbs Thank you. I just figured out how to remove the battery switch and as you say, only the two positives are tied to the switch. The negatives looked like they ran into it, but actually go behind and into the trailer.
So do you recommend to move one of the wires of the external...
