Best packaging I have seen in years.
Batteries are double boxed with foam inside the inner box.
The cart is single boxed but has foam edge corners between the box and cart. It is held (screwed) to the pallet with an interesting steel bracket on each foot.
No dents bumps or scrapes on anything...
I found a piece of aluminum, left over from the machine shop, which I cut to fit. Now I just have to paint it and epoxy it in.
We had snow this morning and the power and internet went down.
This fuse arrived and box said 300A, but when I looked at the body of the fuse it says 200A.
Returned
When they issue the credit I will buy the Blue Sea fuse block with matching fuses in 300A
I'm just starting my second foray into solar system ownership. My original use was about 20 years ago with a small off grid system. It supplied about one 20a 115v circuit for a short time. I used it for an astronomy location.
This time I plan to go grid-tie. I have bought a pallet of 370w panels...
Removing stickers from PVC fittings.....
I bought a bunch of PVC fittings from Home Depot. As much as I tried, I could not get their labels off each of the fittings.
The wife finally suggested trying a heat gun, and it worked.
You have to experiment a little, but I found that heating the labels...
After reviewing the whole home backup diagram, I have come to realize this inverter is even more sophisticated than I originally thought.
Which is even more than my original motivation to buy it.
So theoretically a person could run some 3/0 directly from the meter to the Grid input of the 18k...
The array I planned (so far) to build is 8 columns and 4 rows.
So I would put each row in series and combine them at the inverter?
I'll have to look up what an MPPT tracker is.
Thanks for your brain time!
Greg
He used a "Rock Auger" which has a carbide pilot and the edge of the auger has carbide on it too.
PS
If you look closely you can see his front wheels are off the ground.
There is sort of a tool which might be used to determine this.
On my weather station I have an optional measuring device which will tell you how much solar radiation you are receiving at any given moment. It tells you many Watts per Square Meter. you are receiving at your weather station.
Today...
The first pole goes in. It is the reference pole which all other poles will be measured from.
It goes 4' down into the hole and 8'9" up. This is the north side of the solar array.
It took nine 80 lb bags of cement and 2 rocks to fill the hole. I don't think it will go anywhere.
Next we put in...
I have 32 Solar Panels and I need help in figuring out how to plug them in to my Grid-Tie inverter.
The panels are 370 watts each.
Here is what their brochure says.
The inverter is a Growatt 11.4kw Grid-Tie unit.
Here is what it's brochure says.
I need to figure out the wiring of the...
My experience is that SS ships pretty darn fast.....but if you try to return something, they are pretty darn slow.
Now at two weeks to try to return an inverter.
This is getting really bizarre.
There is a thing called a bottom line. It is the combination of at least 3 items, on any product you try to sell.
If your bottom line is less than your competition, you will sell product.
If your competition has a lower bottom line than you do, they will sell...
I understand that the shutdown aspect is to protect linemen.
I can't imagine that linemen can get out and start fixing things in 2 seconds.
What's the big deal if it does (shut down backfeed) compliant with code?
The problem is that these blips can destroy TVs and other delicate electronic...
So with that information I started looking at DC circuit breakers they are doubles so they can handle both positive and negative.
They are 16amps and 500v ea, which should handle the four strings that are 10.9 amps and 328 volts each.
To hold them I have found a metal "Din Rail box" which...
The local grid supplier says I use about 32-34 kw hours per day.
I live at 7400' elevation in the Rockies.
The coldest I have seen here is -15° F but most of the time in the winter it is in the plus teens at night, if that cold. As of this writing it is 19.5° F
My array is 32 panels (so far) of...
We rarely have outages that last anytime. We had one last night (for about 3 hours) and I expect the system should shut down if the outage is any more than a blip, just to protect the guys working on the outage.
I seriously doubt the linemen even know of blips on our system.
I'll try to look up...
My intent would be to go off grid.
My panels are.....
Open Circuit voltage is 41v
Current at Max Power 10.92 A
Maximum Power 370 W
I have 32 of these panels
With the grid-tie Growatt I plan to have 4 strings each in series to 4 pv inputs. 8 panels per string = 328v at 10.91amps.
The 12kw off...
I have 32 panels 370 watts each that I plan to organize into 4 strings of 328w at 10.79 amps
My house is currently connected to the grid with a 200a panel which has a sub panel in the basement 100' away which runs off of a 100 amp breaker.
I will have batteries, but do not have them now. I was...
Looking for the "state of charge" of the Ruixu batteries when they were delivered.
If anyone measured them before they charged them it would be helpful.
I contacted the Albuquerque store, registered and requested a quote on 4 IronRidge items to hold the 32 panels I wish to mount on my array.
Does it typically take a long time for them to respond or can I expect them to not respond?
Just curious.
Trying to Figure out my solar panel inputs to An EG4 18kpv
32 panels 370w each panel.... 10.92 amps each.... 41 v each panel
each string would have 8 panels in series..... 328 volts 10.92 amps
wired in to EG4 18kpv.....
mppt one 328v 10.92a
mppt two 328v 10.92a
mppt three 328v 10.92a

My original thought was to go Grid-Tie and then acquire the required components and change over. As long as the grid is alive, I can use the Grid-Tie system. My main concern today is grid failure as a result of the pushing towards EVs (etc) and the potential grid collapse as the infrastructure...
Picking the array location....
There are two pink flags in this picture and we are looking roughly to the east.
The far flag is just above and to the left of the closest pink flag.
Looks like I will have to remove the Juniper to the right of the far pink flag.
I picked this location because it...
From the "Grid" on the 18k to a breaker on the load center.
From the "Load" to a breaker on the load center.
At least that is my current thinking unless that thinking is faulty.
If my thinking is correct, then I need to know what size breakers to put in the load center to attach these two...
I am using the Ironridge ground mounting system.
The panels are 40.86614" x 69.09449".
I can't seem to find a measurement that tells me how far in from the ends of the panel the XR1000s should be. This would be the 69.09449" overall dimension.
On their drawings it looks to be around 12" from...
Although our local grid supplier says that they will help (to the maximum possible) in anyone's efforts to construct a solar system, such is not the case.
I suspect that their main concern is maintaining income.
It has been months since I contacted them to get their assistance and have not even...
I will be wiring 8 panels per string. (4 strings)
Each panel is 370w
Each string would be 328v at 10.92 amps (series).
Would like a 4 string circuit breaker/disconnect.
Will run from there to the 4 inverter inputs.
On their drawing it shows 2 dimensions between what look like mounting holes on the back side of the panels.
One is 1300mm and the other is 950mm.
Subtracting that from the overall dimension gives 15.84646" from either end and 8.956695" from either end.
Measurement with a tape confirms these...
The inverter is an EG4 18kpv
The house has a 200a panel.
From the panels....
mppt one 328v 10.92a
mppt two 328v 10.92a
mppt three 328v 10.92a
mppst four 328v 10.92a
I have bought a Growatt grid-tie inverter. The problem is that our power company suffers from frequent "blips". What I am looking for is an adjustment that would allow me to increase the shut down time to maybe 2 seconds so the inverter will stay on during these "blips".
Is there such a thing?
Running the neutral wire from the 18kpv to the load panel.
I have several pieces of white 6 awg left over from a previous project. I am wondering if I can use 2 or 3 lengths of the 6 awg from the 18kpv neutral to the panel neutral rather than buy a larger awg wire.
Would 2 or 3 runs of that #6...
While prices are relatively low I was thinking of buying 6 Ruixu batteries and the rack.
I am not ready to use them quite yet and I was wondering if it would hurt them to just sit in the rack in the garage for awhile?
It's sort of a gamble as I don't know if the price will go up or down, but...
Blowing up the microscopic print on the PDF file for these panels show a notation of Installation Holes on the 950mm dimension.
I guess those are the ones I want to use.
Anyone else get their EG4 PowerPro Conduit Box and not get the bottom plate with it?
It looks like I got everything else, just not the bottom plate.
It's always somthin.
G
I have and may still do that if I need more. I just have enough on my plate right now and taking on another "job" is something that doesn't sound like a good time right now.
I like the idea and a local friend of mine has done that, but I'm just a little busy at the moment.
No doubt. I just wasn't expecting it because they have an office in LA. I guess when you place the order it goes outside the US and they give it to their office in the US or wherever.
You don't dig holes by hand in this part of the Earth.
I had to hire Kevin to come with his auger and make an opening. Even that is really tough as the auger is bouncing off rocks all the way down.
It makes for quite a bit bigger hole than the 12" auger, but it can go 4'.
I bought 10' of 4/0 welding cable for the battery to inverter run, a while back.
I'd like to save the second set of DC inputs for future additional batteries if possible.
Boy batteries are expensive.
