Sorry for the late reply, but Life gets Lifey from time to time.
SS did respond to me - both from @signaturesolarrichard and james showalter.

Assembly issue. Extra screws floating around in the unit, dent on the front top casing (not in shipping) and 40% higher voltage on delivery. Likely somebody got in a hurry. But that unit is charging/discharging at identical rates. No internal issues besides cosmetics. TechD offered me a discount...
I also have the SW4024. Also rock-solid. And I even managed to brick it once by botching a firmware update. Schneider tech support talked me down - walked me through re-initiallizing it. Good surge, good peripherals, not super cheap like the all-in-ones, but no single point of failure either...
Glad that was helpful. By the way I have three of those units - two in a Lifepo4 system with a System Control Panel - and one in a flooded LA system with no SCP. In both cases I am able to adjust all the charge parameters - by setting the battery type to CUSTOM - which then opens up the Custom...
By the way, I recently bought one (24v 200ah model) for $1400 even (plus shipping). That's down to $268.72 per kWh. I mentioned the forum and that may have influenced the price.
When you factor in the 100A BMS, the fixture/enclosure, 4 temperature sensors, a low/hi temp disconnect, monitoring...

By the way, DC coupling is, on the whole, much simpler (because of the difficulting in regulating the AC charge on batteries). And your 300ft can easily be overcome by running higher voltage DC with MPPT or inverting to AC and then running 240v to the house. I am doing something similar (barn to...
Nice job. Very clean. I would consider taking that advice about the compression though. @Will Prowse has an assembly video that features a relatively simple compression method.
Yes K-Molokai. I am using micros and I am off-grid only - haven't had a utility bill for 30+ years. The Schneider SW4024 (and my DC battery bank) is providing the pilot signal - the smart hybrid inverter does the AC to DC charging and the frequency shifting for shutdown. I also have Conext DC...

True enough. My goal was to drop the overall C rates (charge and discharge) and to create a capacity cushion; A given C rate divided by more batteries = a lower C rate overall. The bigger battery will share in that reduced C rate. Kinda like the forum, we can accomplish more together than we...
Hi totalicf:
You can get Anderson connectors with #6 wiring (for both parallel and series) made at TechDirectClub - with custom lugs. I did so. Or try BatteryCablesUSA for larger wire sizes. I have 4 BYD pre-built units so my net charge/discharge amperage per unit is appropriate for a #6 cable...
Yes - the new Lifepower4 battery has a different BMS and Rs485 cable setup from the original Gyll batteries - and from the new EG4-LL models. Different software, too. Battery-to-battery communication daisy chain is a no-go between the old Gyll and Lifepower4.
This should have been pointed out...
That's only with the internal shunt - I use their 500amp external shunt.

So now solar/off-grid is a bad idea? And the oil companies/monopolies want to stifle it so it doesn't kill their golden goose? Here's a interesting thought about powerful opponents...

A few things to consider. I have 4 of those units. Those pre-built cases are engineered for the used BYDs. If you remove the black back cover you can see if you got a true BYD. (see photos) and not a "smaller" battery. The #6 wire is the same as in my units - a #6 can carry 50amps @ 24v for 27...
Your wife may have a point. The generator option is, by far, the least expensive and simplest way to deal with an occasional outage.
That switch is very handy, by the way, giving you the option to simply plug in a genny or an inverter/solar set up. Depending on your locality, Gridtie (selling...
Ordered 3 preassembled units (w/130a BMS and shell, fan removed) from TechDirect on 1/9 after a long and helpful conversation with them. Estimated delivery in 7-10 days. They appear to be assembling them as they go according to demand...
As for me, last year I bought 4 of the refurbished pre-built 24v BYD units w/BMS/case from TechDirect/Big Battery. They have performed beautifully - and have made power management in my off-grid home so much easier. Yes, they had less capacity than advertised (so BB sent the 4th one to me at no...
Michael D: Here's a photo of my charge/discharge setup. Using a 200amp shunt and meter attached to the common negative terminal from the BYDS - and a common positive terminal from the BYDS - all of my BYD Anderson connectors have 3/8 lugs - all attached to the appropriate terminals - negatives...
