It would, yes. 13hrs on 5gal. I have it for remote job sites that have no power at all and while it's not being used for that I'm going to use it for backup. If I were buying one just for backup, I'd get a smaller one.
This particular generator is a HF predator 9000 (7200w runtime). It...
Good idea. 480 scares me. I'd feel more comfortable going just to 240v. 12.5a at 240 over 230' has a drop of 2.5%, which is acceptable.
Would this work?

I read the same thing... but, after I connected it to the tx and rx of the bms. ?
...I plan to do a other esp32 to esp32 serial test to be sure it still works.
they're 230. Seems like every vendor has multiple ah capacities in descriptions. I'm not sure why, exactly. She send me a capacity test screenshot of the same model cells.
The two benefits that I want from splitting them in the two banks are..
1. Redundancy in the event of an issue with one bank. I don't loose power if I need to fix something, etc, etc
2. Troubleshooting a wonky module is simpler since the bms data is specific to one module (made of many...
Solid plan. I was thinking similarly sort of. The plan is the split them, rebalance them and reconstruct two 16s banks instead of the one. I just ordered a second bms.
I think you all are correct about getting to a too-low state of charge and the balancers as the root cause. The batteries were down to near zero soc about 10 or so days ago and that seems to correlate with this new issue. The cells did begin to drift when it down that low. Since then I've...
It was designed on EasyEDA. If you have an account there the project can be shared. However, that design uses a fet that is totally unavailable anywhere these days... supply chain, chip shortage. If you order it, they'll happily build it missing the fet... which makes it useless.

I think that is exactly what happened. Looks like the serial ground wire shorted. I replaced the bms and left the monitor off of it. When the new cells arrive and I build the 3rd battery ill build the monitor into an enclosure with soldered connections and test the bms here at the house.
I checked in on my remote system just a minute ago and I was alarmed. One of the two 48v 16s overkill bms's reported some relatively huge current draw downs momentarily. ...and I dont know why. Hoping you all can plant some ideas.

I think I agree about the spit phase approach ...after doing more research and finding real world prices.
