Hi everyone... I built this small system for a mobile barn I have on my property. I know it's overkill for what I need to do but I wanted to learn by building something that has all the various components of an off-grid system. Here is a photo of the entire system... I want to add a...

I am assuming that you are talking about the large rope in this photo... These are for the movement of my chicken coops. They are called chicken tractors and they are based on the plans of Farm marketing solutions... Every day, I move the chicken tractor forward by pulling on this rope. This...

So I modified my system per some of the comments... First this is, I check the resistance of each cell and took the weekest cel out. So now I am running at 3S

So first thing I did was to bring down the voltage of each cell to about 3 volts each with this... The i used my CellMeter to balance the cells to 0.01 volts of each other. The voltage displayed is incorrect I brought them down to 3.0X volts each which is the minumun=m documented Then I...

Yeah but you won't find the breaker ?

Here are the little chickens... They are all in these chicken coops that each have their individual electric fences... I also power a small 12 volt pump to transfer water from the mobile barn to each waterer

The barn right now resides on a two acre parcel of land I have... I did not have a name for it yet... suggestions? What instinctively come to mind? Here is the door side of the barn... I raise pastured poultry... the barn is used to store all the food and water. Additionally, inside, I have...

600$ USD per 100 Ah roughly for new cels vs 160$ here + the cost of nickel strips and copper wire... let's say 200$ A third of the price + it's better for the environment

(They are rated at 25 AH) Wow .. this is great information .... my brain will explode soon (like my batteries)... too much information to process. I will definitely go the 3s route and I already have a BMS. I have a small inverter but it is not required ... I can live without it and that is the...

This is the result of the test done by the person I bought the cels from:

I would like for some of you to chime in here.... I'm thinking of buying 12 of these banks: https://i.ebayimg.com/thumbs/images/g/4WoAAOSw~ZJbg~~B/s-l225.jpg These banks have 96 of the following USED cels...

Ouch .... that's like 4-5 AH I was thinking of maybe stepping the battery pack up to 24 volts by adding two other cels and then introducing a voltage converter to go from 18-24 volts down to 12 volts ... this would give me more range to work with Is this a good strategy with these cels or...

Anybody know why my MP50 is not displaying the right battery level . correctly?
  • Post in thread: Just having fun... (please comment... I'm new to this)

Thanks... It's all 10 gauge single strand house wiring... I had a lot of scrap pieces in my shop From the battery ... I do not know the gauge... it was old input wiring to a 100 amp 240 volt main house panel
  • Post in thread: Just having fun... (please comment... I'm new to this)

Right now there is a 50 watt panel on the roof of the barn: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01LXX2JEJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Yes ... that is what I want the maximum to be. I have three lithium Ion cells that are rated to a max of 4.2 volta each and I do not want to exceed 4.1 volts each... hence the reason I set 12.3 volts for the battery pack. That is what I set on the MP 50 bit the battery icon show it almost...

Very low loads... I have to power: 1) 3 lead light 5 minutes a day 2) a small water pump for 60 minutes, once a week 3) My fence energizer 24 /7 I had a Goal Zero 400 lead acid version (sold now because I wanted to do this project) that powered the above no problem. never brought it down to...

Oh for sure... just the cables will cost me a lot... I konow I will need more I am doing this to 'replace' a gas generator fed panel I use when we lose electricity here in Canada. When I lose electricity, I switch a special breaker to flip from grid to an external source (generator in this...

Great idea and was actually thinking of doing that. There is a theory that live stock "enjoy" music.

If you notice on the following picture... the inverter positive cable goes to the fuse box and then to the main battery fuse. In pretty much all of Will's designs, he uses a dedicated fuse... My question is, have I wired it correctly?... Is this setup sufficient?
  • Post in thread: Just having fun... (please comment... I'm new to this)

Thanks.... yes, i saw those and I have put some values in but I am unsure of them since my battery bank has weird voltage ranges. Here are the specs Battery type : Lithium-Ion Nominal voltage: 3.7 V Operating voltage range: Minimum : 3.0V Maximum : 4.2V Length: 5.875" (148 mm) Width: 1" (26 mm)...

Wow ... thanks for the recommendation... interesting... The top left terminal is tight enough The negative connection for the battery monitor however is just sitting on the terminal temporarily

Is charging with a car charger OK.... ?
  • Post in thread: Just having fun... (please comment... I'm new to this)

Also my MP50 is not showing the battery charged correctly... I am not sure what setting I could have got wrong... I have set the charge limit to 12.3 so it should show me 100% at 12.3. The shunt it configured that way and I see it display correctly

Do you have a link to your 2P 26650 nickel strips?
  • Post in thread: JK 4S 200A BMS

Bah! I think it is more than enough. If your battery is in an isolated environment (insulated box)... that is more than enough to keep it over freezing using very little power. My opinion and real life experience
