  • Post in thread: Caution Before Purchasing Victron from XYZ Distributor!

I completely agree - my slight issue with the OPs post is that Victron are being placed as being at fault for this matter, the reality is that it's the xyz vendor that the OP should be urging members to be very cautious about.
  • Post in thread: REC 2Q BMS

The hunt for a trustworthy BMS will usually end up down either a Batrium, a REC or an Orion shaped rabbit hole.
  • Post in thread: Can I select a close/matching charging voltage as the inverter does not state Lifepo4

I'd be spending a few hundred quid on a 3kw VFD, rather than an inverter of questionable quality such as that mentioned.
  • Post in thread: Off topic, EV vehicle opinions…

We have a few old leafs in the family and I'd say they would be the perfect vehicle for you, given how much money you're wasting on the old VW, combined with her low use and perhaps the ability to charge for free. The only mechanical issue I have with mine is that the screen wash runs out...
  • Post in thread: how was parallel solar done before microinverters

This really is nonsense .... plain and simple nonsense.
  • Post in thread: Use for excess energy without sending to grid?

Making hot water isn't difficult with surplus, or dump it into a few old fashioned storage heaters.
  • Post in thread: Yet another DIY ground mount (and some roof)

New member, at 59 degrees North, and a boat ride off the top of Scotland. Wind is our primary energy source but PV has served me well. Mainly parallel Victron kit, their ESS, Fronius single phase 8.2 Primo, AC Thor, a mix of AC and DC coupled, feeding a little under 250kWh of gen 1 and gen 2...

  • Post in thread: signature solar

I'm curious, what are you needing to order ? There's plenty of instantly contactable suppliers in the UK, who you'll have no problem getting support from.
  • Post in thread: Caution Before Purchasing Victron from XYZ Distributor!

You're very obviously frustrated, and you've very obviously got the hump with the distributor, which is fair enough and understandable. Why haven't you actioned the RMA via another distributor ?
  • Post in thread: Solar Powered Mining Farm

... and then it got windy.
  • Post in thread: Yet another DIY ground mount (and some roof)

A few Nissan Leafs met an early end so I've recycled their traction batteries. The price of entire EV vehicle packs have increased five fold here in the UK since I purchased these, everyone seems happy paying silly prices for them now, somewhat encouraged by the three fold increase in energy costs.
  • Post in thread: Have I got this right? (wind turbine)

I don't disagree, and they'll only ever produce anywhere near their rated outputs (briefly) in winds strong enough to structurally destroy them.
  • Post in thread: how was parallel solar done before microinverters

I've a feeling the ChatGPT generated responses would make much more sense.

  • Post in thread: Have I got this right? (wind turbine)

I think you should be looking at the Atlas X7, the UK Tesup site is saying it'll generate upto £130 of electricity in a day.
  • Post in thread: First time top balancing- charger only shows 0.57amp

Assuming 3.6v is what the target end voltage is then all you have to do is end the charge whenever the current has dropped to that deemed to be fully charged as per the manufacturers tail current.
  • Post in thread: Drop-in car battery DIY?

I think there is overwhelming use on this site of cheap, bug ridden management systems that aren't reliable, hence the general agreement that multiple lines in the sand need to be present.

Bin that bus bar, you'll never get a reliable connection when you have non metallic components under compression.
  • Post in thread: Caution Before Purchasing Victron from XYZ Distributor!

This is a somewhat differently worded version of the same story that you posted on the Victron community forum where you've had input from Victrons CEO, who has stated in public that your issue WILL be resolved - he is very active on that forum and I am positive he will ensure your issue is...
  • Post in thread: Have I got this right? (wind turbine)

Proven (apart from the 15kW) (now Kingspan), Evance (now Britwind), previously Iskra, which sadly failed primarily due to lack of government planning foresight. All are sub 10kW turbines that have historical easily recoup their investment. Given the recent energy price hikes the ROI is a...
  • Post in thread: Caution Before Purchasing Victron from XYZ Distributor!

You're oddly selective about which posts and questions you respond to, so I'll ask again. Given that Victron, elsewhere, have publicly acknowledged there is an issue, why haven't you actioned the RMA via another distributor ?
