Check the current agreement and the specs on the inverter if you have to swap like for like you could try stick to the current 2.75kw but use modern panels thereby freeing up roof space and add more panels to a separate inverter like the sunsynk hybrid which should in theory work in tandem with...
  • Post in thread: Mortons on the Move LiFePO4 Battery Comparison

Quite possibly, I've used 18650's for years and never seen one bloat I was just guessing as a cylinder would be much harder to mechanically constrain without turning it into a bomb.
  • Post in thread: ground rod pounder

I stick to steel thicker the better and have to special order 7018 rods because all you can get around here locally is 6013 my welds ain't always pretty but they don't often break. No idea about the locals you can see the welds aren't pretty but no idea if they're broken or not because they...
  • Post in thread: New here, component question

Hello and welcome to the forums. I'm sure others will chime in and give you better answers but I'll have a go at it for the time being. Best bet is get a AiO solar inverter if your intending to wire it yourself. This obviously allows you to connect solar at a later date but for now will...
  • Post in thread: The plan so far, thoughts and suggestions please

Ty I'll take a look but data here is really quite bad as I don't think they have any reference data. So far my 760w ups has produced double any predicted forecasts daily.
  • Post in thread: Noob Installation Question (UK): Growatt SPF 5000 ES AC input 50a circuit breaker

As I said earlier there's good chance there's a nail in the fuse carrier
  • Post in thread: Accessing Deye RS232 port from SBC instead of datalogger

Just checked this manual is for the most recent manufactured inverters from march 26th 2024 so depending when yours were produced the pins might be different I would guess the manual supplied with your inverter should confirm which pins are used.
  • Post in thread: Your Ideal Offgrid New Construction Setup

Try doing so in an incognito tab I just checked and some invalid token error popped up but incognito was fine.
  • Post in thread: Beware of Amazon's class t fuses

I've searched online and the only research paper that might hold an answer is behind a paywall. From this chart it seems to be somewhere between 1200-1300 which should still melt steel.
  • Post in thread: Incompetence from Signature Solar & Solar Sovereign

You must have a pretty good experience with Chinese service!! Normally they don't even answer my emails at all. Not sure what's worse being given the run around or just ignored entirely.
  • Post in thread: Where to buy LFP cells in Japan?

@Will Prowse what do you think about the above posts do you agree is this something that is being fundamentally overlooked and potentially dangerous that should be brought to light? You have far more knowledge that me aswell as plenty of contacts to investigate further and a popular platform...
  • Post in thread: Fedex is NOT getting a Christmas card this year (Sig Solar order destroyed)

Not sure, here I don't tend to see pride on ones work at all, more pride in the paycheck. Maybe I'm wrong it's very much monkey see monkey do here, they try to copy building styles or technology without understanding the finer details or engineering behind it. A good example is the concrete...
  • Post in thread: Noob Installation Question (UK): Growatt SPF 5000 ES AC input 50a circuit breaker

6mm is rated at 49amp just 1 short of the original goal another option for the fuse wire would be a wylex retrofit MCB though I don't even know if you can still get them.
  • Post in thread: Cell price drop

I've noticed a massive rise in surface mounted galvanised conduit at the hotels I visit seems cool for some people but I can't help looking at all the poorly made bends.
  • Post in thread: Emporia energy monitor is lame, can't get the data I want, ESPHome?

I'd be using apparent power as this accounts for power factor also I can try dig out the template but I think I did it in the helper ui there should be an built in option for it.
  • Post in thread: Deye inverters and external electronic meters.

Makes sense for you guys but I have no idea what the rest of Thailand are going to do with this EV push. The grid can hardly handle all the AC units when it's hot let alone 50,000 ev's drawing 2mWh from the grid a day. Loas is already exporting so much electricity here its own citizens are going...
  • Post in thread: Why no manufacture dates on panels?

My panels have dates as part of the serial number 04-02-023 though I have no idea if that's February or April
  • Post in thread: Ground rod specifics

Thinking it's more to do with lightning and how well the GFCI works as well as other sensitive equipment, average human resistance for a cardiac event is 400 ohm at 220V so as long as we have a ground well below that it's all good.
  • Post in thread: The plan so far, thoughts and suggestions please

Likely they are watching more volatile countries than Thailand.
  • Post in thread: I need a large 12V load...

That was my only concern watching the video "should he really have that high a resistive load mounted to ply?" I was just imagining my grandparents old wire wound heaters the whole time. Also when you do tear it down I'd be interested in how well those isolators did switching while under load...

  • Post in thread: Question About Preventing Grid Backfeed

Any examples of what would cause a back feed on my off-grid AiO? This seems pretty interesting and since I have so many measuring devices on my home that should be able to measure down to 10mA I'd be interested and willing to experiment with my cheap Powmr AiO. I can isolate the circuit it's...

  • Post in thread: FBI warns of Solar System Cyber Threat

I bought a dell 1u server for about $60 threw in a network card and installed opnsense for a router it's pulling 70w but it runs on solar so it's not a big issue but it practically hasn't been switched off since I bought it about 8 years ago except for updates and the odd clean. The L2 switch...
  • Post in thread: Why is my stoven always on?

To start with i wouldn't think it's interference or a bad ct meter as that normally gives large spikes not constant prolonged readings. Looking at your graph and looking at Temprature graphs for San Jose CA they seem to correlate, maybe a bad thermostat on the oven maybe a chip but for sure I...
  • Post in thread: MC4 connectors a massive scandal

I think the direct burial stuff is normally PE or PVC outer sheath but a coax cutter or network cable cutter should as you say go through it like butter and is a far more foolproof way of stripping the cable as long as you set the right depth.
  • Post in thread: Understand my system (England, new house)

If my math is correct you have 11 panels on your roof currently if you went with 450w panels you could in theory have 5 feeding your current inverter and 6 powering a new 3kw hybrid as long as they are panels on the higher end of the voc output but as I said you would need to check your current...
  • Post in thread: Charging a battery via AC wall plug

What battery voltage? there's plenty of step down transformers that output 5v usb but they generally cap out at 24-36v so if you have a 48v system you would likely need another step down.

  • Post in thread: few questions about solar power....

Earth leakage breakers are more common here for mains power as they don't require an earth, you find alot of shops sell rubber extension sockets with them fitted. Most of the GFCI stuff just comes from china and isn't really designed for the Asian market it's more pointed towards the western...
  • Post in thread: The plan so far, thoughts and suggestions please

I'm looking at £600/$760 per 280ah 16s battery but that doesn't include 7% import tax and the shipping cost, but it doesn't seem bad for a supported battery, I've saved the data but I won't bother talking to them until I've done more research and come up with a full plan for everything as my...

  • Post in thread: SRNE + Other Comparable Inverters

AEG seem to be releasing some new inverters with a mppt max voc of 850v according to my news feed. I didn't even realize they were still producing anything, I had a fair few corded power tools produced by them 30 or so years ago and they always produced very high quality products.
  • Post in thread: Next Project is this the correct way of thinking?

Placement is kinda another issue we're planning on a new building(no walls for now just a roof, technically not our land but it's family so np) to put the panels on, which is about 500ft from the house. I was thinking of just going max voltage with smaller wattage panels and running from said...
  • Post in thread: Where to buy LFP cells in Japan?

The central wiring channels would have to be placed horizontally, but if what I'm thinking is correct then the practicality of their wiring design is potentially dangerous so who cares about how easy it is for the wires to be run when the whole thing has a higher potential to go up in flames.
  • Post in thread: Easiest way to protect appliances against DC voltage on AC output on non-isolated off-grid HF inverters?

This happens fairly regularly in Thailand, drunks or drivers suffering from lack of sleep regularly crash into poorly made power poles and snap them clean in half. One brand (Safe-T-Cut) dominates the market for residential RCBO main breakers with a fairly decent SPD integrated. It's saved the...

  • Post in thread: Deye Grid port and Smart Load

Sorry to jump on the thread but I know your the resident Deye advanced manual what does smart load actually mean? The documentation just shows a kettle I'm contemplating if I should go with a 10k or two 5k and adding a generator might be a possibly in the future but if the smart load is...
  • Post in thread: Powmr inverters opinions?

I picked up a 1.6kw 12v unit to use as a ups a few months back things I've noticed: -the fans are constant 100% and loud -the charging amperage is off by a large margin Other than that is been a good unit resets immediately with overload no disruption of power. The only reason I'm not using...

  • Post in thread: Sizing a hybrid system for Philippines. I have more info now.

Don't know the exact model but from what I've been reading alot today the deye/lvtopsun does have a generator autostart feature though I'm kinda becoming more drawn to the solis inverters lots of good reviews and they seem to be cheaper here in SE ASIA
  • Post in thread: Where to buy LFP cells in Japan?

Surely prismatic cells are all essentially layers no matter what manufacturer if a whole cathode lacks electrolyte and your trying to charge the thing it's going to short at best or cause thermal runaway at worse.
  • Post in thread: Proper Grounding.

Do ufer class as a grounding rod in the sense that a copper grounding rod should be placed 6' from it?
  • Post in thread: few questions about solar power....

Added the panel to what? If you have panels in a string the string will only add up from the power of your weakest panel ie 300-200-40 will only be 40-40-40 try the panels one by one then get rid of anything that would drag the string down( not 100% on this it's just my simple understanding).
  • Post in thread: Are there any batteries do not deteriorate while stored?

Yep lithium cells are generally always stored at 40-50%,when buying anything with a lithium cell (phones, toys, laptops, solar batteries) you should notice they are delivered at around 50%charge this is generally considered to be the stable point of lithium chemistry and the least stressful soc.
  • Post in thread: Interesting feature on Della Optima mini split

Sorry I forgot to look last night but just had a check now and our Toshiba AC unit on 100% is drawing 430w and at 50% it's 370w doesn't seem like a massive saving but maybe the Della system has a larger difference.
  • Post in thread: Ground rod specifics

The regs this post is quoting kinda laughable to me as an retired British electrician we simply had to drive as many rods as was necessary to get a good ohms reading So the exception is dangerous I've had to fit 5 rods on my home here to get an acceptable reading of 5ohms and I likely need more...
  • Post in thread: Moving from 12v FLD to LiFePo4

Winston produce 1000ah cells though I've only seen 500amp bms's, though I'm sure 1000amp are available. Price and fit for purpose normally are the factors here No not for lithium, you need to order the cells to the voltage then have a single BMS that covers that voltage/amperage. NB you can...
  • Post in thread: Deye inverters and external electronic meters.

Meh smarty pants but tbh I'm not so sure I might be even correct on that the voltage drop some days at peak times was getting very close to cut-off point for my inverters ups mode.
