  • Post in thread: few questions about solar power....

He shops on Lazada it's full of sinopy, CATL, CALB cells and Daly bms's. 12v 100ah would be about $120 then a 40amp 100voc epever is about $65
  • Post in thread: EPever Tracer 4210AN and 340W panel not giving more than 40W output?

What's the battery SOC/voltage currently? Do you have any loads on the system? Not trying to discount you may indeed have a problem but this might be normal behaviour for the mppt depending on these factors. If your battery is at full charge the epever might just be in float and only topping...
  • Post in thread: Powitt 450w bifacial panels anyone familiar with this brand?

So I've found a very local supplier of panels (literally 15 minutes down the road is the 5th largest supplier in Thailand) they have 450w bifacial branded Infosat (well known satellite TV box brand in Thailand) but from research they seem to be rebranded and manufactured by Powitt. My googling...
  • Post in thread: Help! Anyone have experience with Sunket??

Is it typical that some stockists can offer Deye inverters at half the price of Alibaba in the EU should have been my question
  • Post in thread: Almost time for the annual defrosting the freezer Holiday extravaganza!

'''; Yes we do the same generally we have around 100kg of whole chickens we buy when the price is reduced then every month or so we check if prices are high or low and replenish. 6 malinois crosses and 8 various other dogs are expensive to feed and buying kibble would bankrupt us if bought at...
  • Post in thread: How long can you (and your family) survive if the grid went down for an extended period?

The whole country produces vasts amounts of food, if shtf I would imagine they won't be able to export it so there's likely to be an abundance, the US and Japan each imports around 3 billion dollars worth of food from Thailand annually and that's protein and carbs that are cheap, where as...
  • Post in thread: Where to buy LFP cells in Japan?

Seems so after what Will said I took another look and in new prismatic cells they use a jelly roll(ovoid) shape so the plates are continuous but surely there's other manufacturers who use the old method same as Winston and people aren't necessarily checking about orientation, or even people...
  • Post in thread: Home Assistant and automating based on SOC

Think HA has local voice assist now.
  • Post in thread: Do you have rated insulated tools?

This is about the same price and offers more sockets. The screwdrivers are great as they are interchangable with the torque screwdriver and the blades are reasonably priced when you wear them out. Also the insulation doesn't protrude so they fit into tight terminals.
  • Post in thread: Acronyms and Terminology.

Does hedges listen to any of us is the question.... 600 posts, 3000 posts were all slacking as far as he's concerned
  • Post in thread: POWMR Inverters Warning: Unreliable Products and Awful Service My Review

Prices drastically change during sales which happen often sometimes twice a month with anything from 10 to 25%off but Deye are pretty much the most expensive brand I've found available here.
  • Post in thread: Battery Lithium Manufacturers sues YouTuber who tested batteries for 3 years with Defamation

Yes my friend gets hired by the national trust to cull squirrels he would often have the police called on him by uninformed leftists who have no idea the squirrels were killing off the trees they love so much, though now that their talking about tightening gun laws further maybe more people are...
  • Post in thread: Need help boiler automation

If you want to use home assistant it would need to be on a separate device. I typically suggest second hand office thin clients as they tend to be cheaper than most sbc's and if your using solar, 50w or so of power doesn't seem to be an issue.
  • Post in thread: Emporia energy monitor is lame, can't get the data I want, ESPHome?

I saw that but wasn't sure whether that applied to esphome firmware also cheers
  • Post in thread: How do you make battery cables fit on battery terminals that are small?

DTLC crimps are likely your best bet
  • Post in thread: replacing ups lead acid battery with lifepo4

I bought a 1.6kw Powmr off-grid AiO for this reason cost about $150 for the AiO and grabbed two 380w panels for the heck of it now not only does my server Rack have a far bigger offline capacity but it runs for free during the day.
  • Post in thread: Emporia energy monitor is lame, can't get the data I want, ESPHome?

For me it's about controlling loads of I know I'm pulling a low wattage from my grid input I can turn on more loads or vise versa
  • Post in thread: Connecting several hybrid inverters to one battery - Manufacturers position

Sorry didn't see that but my point still stands op hasn't come back to explain his choices or ask any further questions. I've not agreed with tim before but rather than keep arguing on a public forum with a person I don't know, I've chosen to not get into some heated debate in a thread with...
  • Post in thread: Thoughts on a mineral oil bath?

Yikes that's 12 years of no electricity bills for a payback All the aluminium case batteries have pretty newly applied shrink wrap so no idea of the mechanical damage although they would be more thermally conductive for my intended use, but is it really worth the risk? I priced up 64 sinopoly...
  • Post in thread: The plan so far, thoughts and suggestions please

Shading is an issue as I'm not that familiar with optimizers and haven't even seen them sold here it's the main reason I've looked at the center of the paddy fields as it's the most barren spot of the land. Alot of my irrigation solar panels got taken over by trees, just everything grows too...
  • Post in thread: Tesla Solar Inverter?

I might be wrong but I don't think you can DIY Tesla powerwall/inverters you need to add an approved contractor uid when commissioning using the Tesla app atleast that's the case with powerwalls I've seen installed.
  • Post in thread: No-ox-id alternative

Dielectric grease is silicone and silica both of which are insulators don't really know what else there is to say.
  • Post in thread: FBI warns of Solar System Cyber Threat

Bear in mind I'm a novice at this so forgive me if I don't explain it perfectly, maybe one of the IT guys can explain more but technically your correct it's only as secure as the firewall(no air gap). The isolated networks have no internet access atall via firewall rules nothing in or out...
  • Post in thread: HA on RPi?

I'd consider these thin clients or sff (small form factor)really, but exactly what I would suggest to run Home Assistant. Micro pc's should actually be micro as in not much bigger than a pi but this is all semantics and better left for another day😉 one thing I would point out is if you intend...
  • Post in thread: MC4 connectors a massive scandal

They come in various sizes including 10AWG, Its 5 am in blighty get some more sleep or eat a Snickers.
  • Post in thread: Ive just has a Lion fire

I mentioned earlier steel won't prevent squat with lithium batteries if your worried stainless is the way to go I mentioned earlier amtech and am-tech are one in the same
  • Post in thread: solar water heater/waste oil boiler

Sadly no the waste oil he's using is much thicker so needs to be preheated and then pressurised via pre heated compressed air atleast in a jet burner. Float style or drip vapor chamber is a much easier option but it's also kinda janky especially when considering hes using it in a residential...
  • Post in thread: solar water heater/waste oil boiler

Vapor chamber that's the style I've been making for my neighbour I've just been using brake disks, welding the lug holes, fitting a blower chamber to the hub space, drilled stainless pots as blast chambers and glass fibre wicks for ignition.
  • Post in thread: Thoughts on a mineral oil bath?

I was thinking less about brazing more about bath to dissipate the heat more evenly but yes this is the general idea I've looked at thanks for showing. 304 stainless here still seems to rust so it might be a trip to old blighty or take a holiday and come visit you to get a decent roll of...
  • Post in thread: Interesting feature on Della Optima mini split

Lol dry mode, it's monsoon season in Thailand the inverter would likely explode.
  • Post in thread: MC4 connectors a massive scandal

Once you've made the crimp I'd think dielectric would be fine in the back of the housing.
  • Post in thread: Trump

I wear a mask, when I'm sick. My wife literally bought tonnage when COVID was full swing I know it's not going to protect me from anything but atleast when I have flu I have the courtesy to try prevent spreading it to others. I also have gallons of alcohol gell which I use to clean around the...
  • Post in thread: If ground deploying in uk weather is it possible to have enough panels to heat and cook through winter with solar alone?

For the road? My neighbour generally burns tyres for a few pennies worth of steel to take to the scrap yard so if I can push people to reuse them I will.
  • Post in thread: Powmr Efficiency numbers?

Hi all new member here just a quick question, am I misunderstanding the efficiency numbers quoted by Powmr? So a little background, I have a home assistant system fitted to the house automating power draw to make full use of any power produced as the battery isn't really used for storage just...
  • Post in thread: The plan so far, thoughts and suggestions please

Spoke to the company this morning and got a realistic price of $1200/£1000 per unit which is still very good for a 14.3kwh premade but not the stupid bargain I thought it was, they will get back to me with shipping costs later so I can consider that with my price. Thailand only really has 1 or...
  • Post in thread: Thoughts on a mineral oil bath?

Not that high 115f in the open air shade last year some rooms were 130f+ with little ventilation in the summer plus the heat from charging/discharging it's liable to go boom in ambient or at least cause some issues. ?? I'm talking cooling down to 95f nothing that would cause viscosity issues...
  • Post in thread: Major Problems with Solar Cellz USA - No Product and No Refund

Big dogs are great we don't even close our doors let alone lock them. Maybe OP needs some, so he can feed his distributor to them. Any sign of package 5 and 6
  • Post in thread: Any Thermal Management Issues with Deye SUN-16K-SG01LP1-EU?

Yes and crazy to think that peak efficiency of a HF inverter is at only about 30% but it only drops by around 1.4% for every 10% over 30%. But with a 16kw at 80% load inverter that's a big chunk of heat
  • Post in thread: FBI warns of Solar System Cyber Threat

The amount of detailed how to guides on YouTube for opnsense and especially pfsense is insane I'm a tool maker (aka metal beater) and I had it set up in no time with absolutely no experience in networking. Sadly now all I really know is how to make a perfect rj45 connection and I don't mean the...
  • Post in thread: ground rod pounder

I didn't particularly want to show it as it gives @Daddy Tanuki an opportunity to rip into my welding skills(not my finest work plenty of inclusions and melt through) but it works though mainly I use it for sinking rebar now. since your a mod and this feels like the closest I get asked for...
  • Post in thread: Architecture: Proxmox with Home Assistant + Solar Assistant + Influxdb + MQTT + Mosquitto + Arduino

Just to point out you don't need a separate os to run lxc's they can run within proxmox the link I shared originally has scripts to set them up but I would advise setting them up using advanced mode and entering your own passwords as I had trouble ingressing when setting them up as basic
  • Post in thread: Powmr Efficiency numbers?

Maybe I should add the inverter has a max input of around 800w from the two panels fitted that's likely the reason for the efficiency numbers thinking about it and my question is probably null and void but I'll still put it out there.
  • Post in thread: Next Project is this the correct way of thinking?

Rules? I had a scan through the building regs years ago it pretty much said "don't start a fire". The inverter I'm looking at wants about 370v to be happy so I'll try to get as close to that and 2500w as I can in whatever combination of a single string then if we decide to export I can add a...
  • Post in thread: few questions about solar power....

Didn't mean his current setup, I've seen that it's going to blow away next storm he has. I was referring to the cost of the setup he's pricing up which seems to be like going from soap box cart to Ferrari.

  • Post in thread: EG4 18Kpv fried PV input

More than likely it's some Chinese made variation of this I posted earlier. I'm trying to understand the orientation better to possibly find a replacement, does it turn 90° and then connect to cables vertically or is it a plug in connection?
  • Post in thread: Beware of the APEXIUM BOX Connectors

Obviously your understanding of grammar and sentence structure is worse than mine, I simply stated the terminal looked to be sanded from from looking at the photo it may or may not be, but from the photo it looks that way which would mean your making yourself look more suspect. Almost every...
  • Post in thread: Beware of Amazon's class t fuses

I agree with the 5th the rest I had no idea I was just looking at the IR temp measurement that was useless (hi isn't a number) and then the colour of the flames.

  • Post in thread: If ground deploying in uk weather is it possible to have enough panels to heat and cook through winter with solar alone?

Hahaha generally the best way to describe rural Thailand is "carnage" from trucks with bent frames driving down the road sideways to children barely entering pubity racing motorcycles at 100kph with no helmet and that's just the roads.
