I will start another thread with the details, but let me just say WOW...the 18k PV is Awesome (yes there are some things you should be aware of, and different from the 6500's). I also want to thank @Markus_EG4. I did the commissioning on my own (which is not their standard practice) and when I...
Just wanted to provide a quick update. Other than long wait times when calling and some confusion as to how I would know if the return was approved after being received back, everyone I have talk to at SS has been very friendly and helpful. Long story short, both Inverters were returned and...
Thanks to this forum, this issue got attention with signature solar and I now have an appointment with a support person. Hopefully it will be roses? and rainbows ? from here . Yes, there are some issues with support, but I have to believe they do have people that are trying and perhaps...
I have the 18k and using for offgrid and I am very pleased with it. Very solid piece of equipment. At the time the 6000xp's were not out. No question in my mind, if I had it to do over again and the 6000xps were available, I would have gone that way. It provide redundancy of 240v service...
So, on Aug 9th, I received an email from a SS tech to schedule an investigative/trouble shooting session. He was very accommodating of my schedule, and we set it up for Thursday afternoon Aug 10th. In advance, I shared my post. When we meet, he had a few more questions, but mostly because...
I leave the main battery breaker on....and I turn on just one of the server rack batteries that have the pre-charge resister built in. Then I turn on the rest one after the other.
yes, I always follow the pre-charge process using the battery breaker, not the main breaker....and the unit was powered on for a while before i turned it on...As for the max charge rate.....when this changes to a low setting like this, I have noticed it because charging get limited and the...
very interesting....sounds very familiar to what I was observer, with the only exception is that I never really put them in standby mode....I dont know when mine were manufactured, but you would think Signature Solar would have known about this issue when I called and logged this issue with them...
To turn on/off the breaker....when you first turn it on, it allows the precharge resister to power up first to not damage your equipment with inrush power, then once the BMS starts, all the power starts coming. Just guessing that one connects the main power, and the other powers the BMS, but...
You are correct, and just fired it back up and the data IS there. Not sure what happened on that day that I went looking for it, but it is there now after a reboot of the PI...I don't see anything interesting or out of the ordinary yet, but I am going to keep looking
Have to say, I love my EG4 18Kpv and it performs great after 3 months. Only complaint is that I dont like the reliance of the distributor to make changes I want to be in control of...but I do understand why they do it. No real complaints from Signature Solar for the price they offer. My...
Ha...better add some more panels to that top row! We also had a line of storms come through...it is nice knowing you dont loose power when your system is working!!
General question - For the 18Kpv, is the LifFePower4 communication Hub required to communicate with EG4 LifePower4 batteries?
(already answered below - Thanks)
Well, I hear what you are saying but if you think you can buy a victron system with split phase and a capacity of 13kw for $4800, please provide the link!!!!! and I will spring for the MPPT!
Sounds so very familiar, but I never got the fault light or warning triangle. Be careful.....Mine actually had setting changing on its own soon to follow. Keep on eye on what you have set and see if you start to see things randomly change. Also, just curious, are you using WatchPower? I...
Confirm those setting you make by going back into them an viewing.....are they really being saved? Or does it just look like it is saving them....there is a reason i am asking this.....
Thanks for that....and thanks for push through this and continuing to be as objective as possible. I am in a unique position of possibly replacing both my Eg4 6545 with the 18k. I don't have a need for grid tie and really believe based on feedback this is the way to go
Based on my research, I have to agree with this statement. If you require zero export, you have to setup as sub-panel as off grid. I had the same concern and this was the only way I could find to solve for this. My provider (via the smart meter) would immediately know if any power was back...
This is really simple, just tell them there is no interconnection to the grid. You have installed a solar AC that works in much the same way as solar lights next to the driveway....end of discussion. They are asking a very reasonable question....Even if you have an off grid system not...
Ok, perhaps this is a little dramatic, but only a little. Here is a picture of my install. I am not a solar expert, but I have read a lot, and do have a electrical wiring background.
Background
Firmware version: 79.63
The inverters have been running well since installation back in March...
Lost all the Data from the last 30 days...which I dont understand. Thought this was stored locally on the SD card...but it is all gone so nothing to analyze. That was the first thing I went to look at after this happened.
(this turned out to be incorrect, see below)
thanks for passing this along, because based on the Manufacturing date of 10/22, I am wondering if mine had these eprom issues...sure was similar enough....
