I don't have stairs where I'd need to use it, by design, and it's pretty easy to slide things onto it especially if you put a flat piece of cardboard on it, but yes, important things to consider! It's still a lot easier to slide something on it and jack it up 4' effortlessly rather than lift it and maneuver it or have to have 2 people. As with everything in life, YMMV.
