Just a post to help anyone out that has an epever upower HI series inverter that wishes to remotely acces all the settings.
According to epever, this is not possible for the hi series. Im pretty sure they are just being a bit akward though, as it is possible, heres how:
Buy an ebox-wifi-01 unit, and simply make your own rj45 to serial db9 rs485 lead, plug it in the serial port on the inverter, download the epever pair app, and all works good!
(it uses its own AP to acess it, but can be connected to your wifi by putting it into station mode by accessing the firmware, but then the app wont connect, but you can use home assistant instead, which is my next job!)
I did not figure this out! The thanks goes to the guys at home assistant: (scroll down to the bottom)

EPEVER Modbus RS-485 Config
Good. According pinouts there is two GND’s, but maybe only one is connected. Anyway, nicely done ?
