Can the Growatt min11400tl-xh-us inverter feed back to the grid for net metering? It says it's grid-tie, but I've read the manual, spec sheets, google searched and checked YouTube videos. I can't seem to find an answer to this.

I would have to say Yes, that's how I use my Growatt. But also, a net metering contract with your power company is needed.

I'm feeding 11kw to the grid, right now, from my growatt min11400

Thanks for the reply :)

Care if I ask a few more questions? Would you recommend I mount the inverter on the solar rack, on the outside of the house near the meter-base or inside by the panel box? I feel like using a combiner box and running 410v DC to the house (~75 feet) is less loss than an AC run at 240v would be.

Do I need the Growatt SM-US-200 Smart Meter as well?

Is a battery required if I am just net metering? I assume no, but I hate assuming.

Do I need the Growatt USB Monitoring Stick or wifi/bluetooth built-in?

What other noob mistakes can you keep me from making?

Thanks in advance.

We were grid tied with that inverter from February, 2022 till July, 2023. I used a meter, the Growatt meter, and set the inverter to zero export because we were gridtied without permission. If you want to export you just set the kW you want to export. You can also schedule it, what is typically called TOU.
There is a cheaper meter that works fine, @1201 is using it I believe.

Be aware, there is a version 1, 2 and 3 of that inverter and Signature Solar does not seem to know the difference. I’ve asked them what version they sell several times and the answer was “We sell the latest version “ which is a ridiculous response. The version has nothing to do with time of release, it’s 3 different sets of functionality. I’m fairly certain they are selling the V2, but it may be that they are randomly shipping different versions and last time I checked a week or so ago they had obsolete V1 documentation on their website. I have pointed this out to multiple people at SS and they seem to totally ignore it, including @SignatureSolarJess

No, this question indicates you need to read the manuals. Wi-Fi is built in

Here is a link to some of them:

This link is the datasheets

And this link is to some various white papers on the subject

My pleasure 👍🏻

Run the DC inside the house and keep the growatt in conditioned space. Will last longer and also less voltage drop

You don't need it but it's a nice addition.

You can get the accrel version for about $100.

No battery required. I don't have a battery connected.

Built in wifi

You're doing the right thing asking questions. Keep them coming

Thank you for the tag! I'll definitely take it to the team!

Hope you will follow up this time. I’ve tried to point this out before, see post in reply to you below as well as a DM to you about a week later. I’ve also tried to get responses via your technical support last spring as well as recently. Lack of any meaningful response caused me to buy multiple inverters elsewhere.

Understood. I have reached out to our Growatt rep and he has informed me that we carry v3 -

Growatt offers:

For MIN XH-US models, they have three versions, currently, they still offer V2 and V3
V1----First version, the off-grid output power is limited.
V2----Second version, partial backup solution, working with ATS-US
V3----Third version, whole-home backup solution, working with SYN

and he has informed me that we carry v3
@SignatureSolarJess - There are people on this forum who have V2 purchased from Signature Solar relatively recently. Also, it does not really make sense for you to be selling V3 but not the SYN. I highly recommend that you check all your inventory to see what you actually have. Again based on some other indications on this forum, there may be others that ended up with V3 from you also.

This is a grid tie unit. SYN makes it a whole-home back up and we do not sell it for this purpose.

why you sell the Growatt ATS/Autotransformer then - it would be used with the V2 for the backup function? Again, more than one person has indicated that they got a V2 from SS relatively recently, one on this thread, @1201 , has posted that his is a v2 and came from SS

We offer ATS for the 5kW off-grid system. The customer you mentioned might have received a V2 unit previously, as that could have been our available version at the time. However, starting from September 20th, all orders have been fulfilled with the V3 version.

Manual and datasheet on website is not for a V3…….
