Victron SmartShunt on the negative side for use as a DC meter?

I bought a Victron SmartShunt, intending to use it as a DC Meter as described in the manual. But looking at it, it's actually powered using the shunt terminals and a positive push-in connection. That would seem to make it impossible to use it on the positive side of a circuit, right?

In that case, how do I measure a DC load if the load is grounded to the vehicle chassis? (Which is pretty common!)

Get it in between the battery negative and the chassis?

Just place it between the DC loads negative and the main negative bus bar.

I have a Smart Shunt for everything and one just for the DC loads.
So that I can track where the power is going.
