Does anyone have experience with this inverter or any BlueSun inverter? It seems like a great price for a 120/240V inverter to start off my solar journey. 5KW is plenty to run all my outlets besides the large appliances. I reached out to the company to see if they have a link or a download for the owners manual. I am waiting to hear back from them.

I'm curious too! It has UL1741SA Listing and "Complete Protection". It says;

"Ground protection;AFCI protection;islanding protection;DC disconnect detection;Battery Reverse protection; Battery charge and discharge protection;insulation testing;GFCI;DC&AC anti-thunder;Overvoltage and under-voltage protections;AC&DC over-current protection;AC short-circuit current protection;overheating protection"

At that price, it's an extremely competitive inverter. UL1741SA implies it can be paralleled with the grid or other 1741SA compliant inverters, but it doesn't aptly say so.

I think @Will Prowse should evaluate one for us in his lab. ;)

I have the 8k with 20kWh usable batteries from bluesun (weird name btw: blue sky, but I have never seen a blue sun. Lost in translation?)

It is a rebranded megarevo.
After some software updates it is doing okay but not excellent.
Lots of stuff from the monitoring isn't working just because the modbus registers are different from eg deye and the wifi adapter that is supplied with it is setup for deye.

I have been several lengthy discussions with tech support and I sometimes knew more about their products than they did.
It seems to be a kind of a hot and miss.
How much is shipping for the inverter is in question?

Can anybody find the actual UL listing or certificate?
This model is the BSE5KH1NA
I have the manual & UL certificate for the BSE5KLNA
There is something odd with this unit.
When you look at the battery info:
Max charge&discharge current: 80 A / 63 A
Normally a battery allows more discharge than charge current. with this one it is the other way round ?
not likely
So if the 2 numbers should be reversed: 80amps @ 48 volt = 3840 watt into the inverter = +- 3500 watt AC max if the grid fails.
There is a lot of uncertainty about this inverter

Please share when you get a reponse from them

What's the consensus on AHJ's accepting UL tests from SGS? We know some AHJ refuse to accept any that aren't straight from UL, which I find to be crap, but I'm kind of a small fry and can't always change what I don't like.

@fromport Hopefully they can get you a cert that's actually for your model.

The cert I posted is for my 8kW model, so I am good. just wondering why they had a 5kW model and they made one that looks identical, but the specs of the one @Calorim listed are a bit less.

I haven't heard back from my inquiry. I will try to reach out again. However if it's the same company that makes @fromport unit I doubt they can be paralleled. I didn't see anything in their manual to suggest they could be.

I got some extra information from them:

This inverter is a single-phase off grid inverter.

That is not much to go on, imo it is described as split phase including feedback into the grid.
Asked for more information again
I clicked their chat feature on the webpage. waiting for someone to respond. If I get any info from them, I will post it here.

I ordered one of the units last week.
Just got this email:
I'm very sorry. Just did an inventory count. The 5KW single-phase inverter is out of stock. We currently only have 8KW split-phase inverters in stock.I will give you a full refund
Got a notification from paypal it was refunded minutes later.

So much things wrong with this kind of communication:

According to their website:
Screenshot from 2022-10-07 19-57-44.png
Both 5kW & 8kW units are split phase, in the email the 5kW unit suddenly is single phase.
On the website 8kW is sold out and 5kW is still available.
According to email it is the other way round.

This does not build much confidence of doing business with them.

hi vegas im trying to pretty much do the same thing, spent hours on here looking at various chinese companys and bluesun the only one that doesnt have a lot of negative reviews. have bought some expensive items thru alibaba over the years and have had great results. with suppliers bending over backwards to help. so im certainly not worried bout sending hard earnt coin overseas., perhaps we could compare notes and perhaps help each other

I have an inverter (8kw) and 2 bluesun batteries (20 kw) installed, it works perfectly so far. (2 years)
