Am looking for a device which can log the daily energy usage , for an offsite location. no wireless or cellular networks, so a user can visit the location every 1 or 2 weeks and scroll through to see the individual daily energy usage. does such a device exist? @ affordable cost

I picked up the Efergy E2 for my camp. I haven't been shoreside to take it up there yet but it looked like it had all the right features and I could just plug it into a laptop and extract all the data. Most of the ones you can get nowadays require an internet connection to work. :(

I and many others installed iotaWatt which can monitor overall or very granular (even every single circuit). It is open source and does not require an internet connection:

Note that you do need WiFi but do NOT need an internet connection... I think there is a way to export to external sites for additional analysis though personally I have not done that as the graphing in the native tool on the box was/is good enough to me.

But can it be accessed without wireless/internet? That's kind of a key for us off-grid types. :)

Too bad they're out of stock. :(

It does not require the Internet but it does require a local WiFi network to connect to (as far as I know it does not have an RJ45 Ethernet connection or RS232 or what not). There may be some other options that I am not aware of (maybe some device you could connect to it or something else) but all I know is the directions indicated and I used local WiFi to connect to it.

So basically, as far as I know, you just need a local Wireless Access Point (WAP) but that WAP does not need to be connected to an Internet connection. You could maybe use a portable WAP (like how a phone can become a temporary hotspot) when you are onsite. I am not sure if it will auto-reconnect to an intermittent WAP/hotspot (I have not tried that) but when having connectivity issues (which I have had a few times) it is pretty easy to briefly power it off and back on to get it to reconnect (my WiFi does not have great coverage in my garage where they are installed).

Edit: Not surprised they are out of stock as they are a great product that more and more folk are learning about (I bought 3)... Regarding when they will be back in stock I would touch base on their Forums and/or see if you can email the administrator for an update.
