Raw cell compression fix? My idea....

We all know Lithium cells will swell, so to allow for that expansion I came up with an idea.

I spent all afternoon cutting out these nice little picture frames out of dollar store foam board..... They allow for enough compression to hold the cells together nicely, but at the same time allow the cells room to swell. Bonus, the supplied bus bars still have room.

Let me know what you all think.

In fact... the purpose of battery compression is to keep the battery from swelling as much as possible. You also deliberately reserve a place for the battery to swell... To be honest, I don't understand your idea. Just use a simple insulating plate or sponge to fill between the cells, and then put a wooden box on the outermost layer of the battery pack to complete, don't think too complicated.

I think you're wasting your time. Slap the cells together and keep them snug tight.

I would be more concerned that your bus bars don't appear to be making good surface contact. Does the opening in the bus bar go over the shoulder on the stud flange and sit flat on the actual cell terminal?
