Why does will use 4/0 for the busbar to battery and only 2/0 for the second battery? Shouldn’t they be the same gauge?

He has 6 batteries connected to a busbar coming from off screen using the 4/0 cable. The other cable you see is a parallel battery system, I'm unsure of how he has that set up but it's likely smaller and therefore requires a smaller cable.
He is using 4/0 to the bussbar, and two pairs of 2/0 to the two inverters.
All correct.
4/0 is needed to get all the demand out of the batteries, only 2/0 is needed at each inverter.

I was showing someone else this set up and they said that I would want all the battery banks to have the same AWG. That's why I asked. Thanks

The 4/0 is only being used after both 2/0 feeds combine.
You are misunderstanding the cable flow direction.

I see, battery 1 must have long cables.
Or it contributes a heavier amp load.
