Okay but if you look at the specs on the AC unit it looks like a 3000 watt inverter would workThere is no such thing as a real 5kW 12v inverter.
The compressor start up power surge can be from 4 ~ 7 times the running rated power and the length of surge may last longer than the so called surge rating of the inverter which usually only in 30 ~ 50mS..Okay but if you look at the specs on the AC unit it looks like a 3000 watt inverter would work

That's what I thought!!!!!Ha Ha sure looks like a 5K, 12V inverter to me.
Is there anything else that I can do other than buying a new inverter?I have heard this particular inverter works well with compressors. It's a low frequency inverter: https://www.electriccarpartscompany.com/3kw-apc-inverter
It's all about that inrush current. I have not been able to run my HVAC either with that inverter and I am running 4/0 cable. I will be replacing the inverter...Is there anything else that I can do other than buying a new inverter?
Trust me they are 2/0Those wire look so small like 2 gauge not 2/0.
I had a Kill a Watt connected to the A/C using Grid power and the KillaWatt diedTrust me they are 2/0
I paid for them!!!!!
The batteries and the inverter are all 2/0
