So I did a thing. I have two built battery packs I've been using for the last year. Today I was working on rearranging them a bit. I moved one cable the wrong way, which caused force on the post and the whole post popped off. Anyone have experience with this? Is there any chance of repairing it? It is definitely a cheap connection to begin with.

You might be able to drill into the remaining post (into the actual cell) and thread a little bit.

Where did you source the cells from? Ah and brand of cells? Each one has different design of terminals.

Doesn't look like there is anything much left to reattach to. I think she's a goner. If it's under any warranty, try to get it replaced.

what cells are those?

I really don't remember what cells they are, it has been a while and I can't find the email right off hand. They are 280AH cells though.

Doesn't look like there was much holding that terminal on in the first place. If the cell can't be warrantied, maybe a pop-rivet would offer a solution. Replace the rivet's shaft (which is designed to break away) with a finishing nail or something else that would swell the rivet but not break off. Taking it a step further, you could scuff up the nail with sandpaper first and tin it with solder. That way soldering on a new terminal of some sort afterwards would be easier. I don't know if solder will stick to steel though. Another option would be to use a copper or brass rod for the nail. With a power drill and a file you could form the shape needed to set the rivet. That would hold the solder if the nail won't.

If the above ideas fail...
I'm not sure if the plastic pieces are electrical isolators or shock absorbers. If they are the latter, you may be able to pour a lead terminal on the top and tap it. Assuming you understand the dangers of molten lead and ventilation. The heat may or may not damage the battery. but it's already broken.?‍♂️
