Using panels on a single mppt port in DEYE inverter

Hello.I want to connect PV panels to 5kw DEYE inverter SUN-5K-SG01LP-US. It has 2 mppt ports
My question is: can I use only one mppt?what will happen if I left the other mppt port disconnected?
My second question : how many panels can I use on a single MPPT port (Maximum power and VOC).
I'm using (Trina 550 w I3) panels their Vmp is = 31.6 V and VOC= 37.9 V

I don't think you can use those panels with the Deye 5k inverter. The inverter has a max Isc of 17A. Based on my brief calculations the max power current for those panels is 17.4A so the Isc will be even higher.

If this is for a residential install, get some sensible residential size panels, i.e around 400W.

If you are stuck with those panels, then you need to buy a Deye 8k inverter which has MPPT inputs which can take up to 34A Isc (they are designed for two parallel strings connected to each MPPT).


But there is no issue with using one MPPT only. Just don't exceed the Isc rating, or the Voc rating of the MPPT.

My manual of the 5kw Deye inverter says:
13a+13a on both PV ports.I think you should not use panels exceeding 13a.I am still confused though how many watts i can connect to each Port.Half of the total max. input of 6500w ?The manual is not very helpful regarding that

That means 13A per MPPT.

Correct, each input can accept half of 6500W.
