Newbie to setting up solar. I've chosen to build my system using 2 of the EG4 6.5kw inverters. Signature Solar had a sale on their 48v batteries which includes six batteries and a rack with free shipping which I purchased. The initial build will use one inverter and limited solar since the batteries depleted the savings. Would it be better to not connect all six batteries? The system won't be grid tied and I'll be starting off with about 5000 watts of solar panels.

Use all the batteries.
Make sure they all work and that they all get the same amount of exercise.
Curious, why would you not do this?

My thinking was that six batteries might not get fully charged under certain conditions, until I added more solar.

Do you have grid power available to supplement pv harvest?
I have grid power available here, I will be using a transfer switch for either or operation. I'm setting this system up to transfer to property that is off grid.

You have to replace the energy you discharge from the batteries one way or the other.
The number of batteries in parralel doesn't change that proposition in significant way that I can see.
The eg4 can be set to use solar first and fall back to grid bypass.

Thank you for the input. I wasn't sure if there was anything that I was overlooking or not. I will run all six batteries then.

With the transfer switch, I'm not sure I could use the EG4 charger?

The AIO has a built in ac2dc charger.

I have six Lifepower4 batteries and 3.65kw panels right now. I run a lot of stuff off them. When the sun is out I have no problem running 12k mini split two refrigerators a small chest freezer two 50+ inch TVs dish system two Xbox‘s water pumps lights microwave and I have probably missed a few things. Of course not all at the same time But sometimes.

Today I did have to run the generator for about 8 hours since we haven’t seen true sun for a few days. But the batteries are back to 90% charge. Never dropped below 52v.

Turn your negative buss bar up side down So the batteries charge and discharge equally. I haven’t done that so the battery closest to the inverter always discharges and recharges first.

Remember lithium recharge way faster then led acid.
