Has anybody had any dealings with the SOK battery company lately? I wonder about the current state of affairs regarding their product quality, customer service and delivery times. I have tried to get in touch with them via internet chat on their website and by phone but had no success. Looking to buy another 24V 100Ah LFP battery from them but have some very specific questions for them before I do.

Yes, I have contacted SOK and their customer service is horrible. I have 8 of their 206Ah batteries, one of them isnt measuring any voltage at all. Like not even 0 volts. It’s as if there’s an air gap in the internal circuitry. I can’t even charge it with a victron ip65, it just keeps showing 0amps.
Email communication started back in December, and they take days to reply. And when they do reply, they just send the same link on how to wake up a sleeping battery. Then when I sent them the charging history report, they reply back saying the charge settings are all wrong, even though I was able to charge the other 7 batteries with the same charger. I sent them a video of what I was measuring with my meter And haven’t heard back. That was 6 days ago.
Never again will I buy an SOK product and I will never recommend it even to my worse enemy.

China is on holiday - China new year. Give them a few days and they will respond to you.

EDIT: I checked with the lead tech that handles the support and he said he didn't see a correlating email to what you describe here. Please PM me your email address and I will have them follow up on your issue.

Waiting to see if SOK follow through before deciding on further purchases of SOK.

Not yet. Still waiting for directions. Last I was told to take the top off and measure each cell individually. Still measuring 0 volts.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having a bad experience. I have called Current Connected several times. Each time I called the phone was answered and my issues were addressed. The support person that I spoke with was extremely knowledgeable. Support was excellent.

When I send an email and I don't receive a reply within 24 hours, I simply pick up the phone. Maybe I'm old school, but it gets results.

I’ve called the number on the SOK site, 725 765 2879 numerous times and they‘re never available to answer any calls. I’ll try calling Current Connected, but I’m not sure if they can help me directly with any warranty issues. I don’t even know what their number is, it’s not listed on their site.

Update: I can not recommend SOK 206 batteries. Find another brand. There are problem with the BMS and their app is totally useless. There is an updated BMS in the works, an improvement but still has issues with balancing. It seems their setting are too agressive to give max cycles verses max capacity. One symptom is an issue with balancing.

Probably why they are so secretive with not showing the parameters. Asking to show, not change settings.

Thank you for your feedback on this. I have installed 4 of them with 3 victron battery balancers for a client and it seems to be working fine but we have encountered an alarm and loss of power. restarted the system and it’s been fine since so Hopefully it’s ok for the next few years at least. I’ve had no problems with pylontech and victron.

This posts lacks all credibility and was cross posted in two threads with the same misinformation. Here's the actual parameters in the batteries to prove it - they are very typical for LiFePO4 batteries:

My system is a complete Victron System. So Current connect, give us the password, so we know what our battery parameter are. How do I know this is an edited page. It easy to do. Password?

I have the new BMS and much better, but still an issue so far. Still testing before I make final conclusions.

Stop showing your parameter, give us the password. What is SOK hiding.

Sorry, it your credibilty to question. You have an invested interest. We don't. Just like the utuber who recommend SOK, they were sponsered. Didn't show the app or what their balancing was. Give us the password, failure to do so, proves my statement are credital. It is your credibilty in question.

I messed up one calibration and spent a while before figuring it out. So many users who will mess things up then contact CurrentConnected probably is one reason why the password is not given for the adjustments that would cause damage. Does BattleBorn give consumers this ability that is wanted?

I seriously doubt that they are hiding anything. I'm guessing that there isn't a read only password. That BMS is probably used for a variety of batteries and they configure it for your specific model. If they were to give out the password and a customer altered those parameters causing damage to battery, are they supposed to warranty that?

He posted the parameters as you so rudely requested. Now you are accusing them of being dishonest. It's your integrity that's in question.

There are may people willing to help others on this forum. All you have to do is ask (politely). Perhaps you should change your attitude and maybe you will get better results.

I question it, because I found one altered parameter list. He get what he gives, he question my credibilty claim, so got what he gave.
No, I don't take the word of a saleman or people who have an invested interest, this include many utuber (free batteries) who weren't open with issues. Let him, provide the proof, give the password. SOK can update their app to make the parameter visible but requiring password to change it. I asked and they ignore the request.

I suspect they are approaching this different. They are blocking low and high discharging/charging as the view is, it will give the battery higher cycle. Allowing the BMS to discharge to 2.5 and recharge to 3.65 may reduce life cycle but one get max capacity. For residential, a good idea, but for RV, the trailer will rot before you use up 3000 cycles.

This issue of balancing is not new. Balancing is an ongoing issue with LIFEPO batteries for a long time. It has become visible because of Bluetooth connectivety. People now see it. So they want that fixed/resolved. Their approach has result in bad balancing. So far with the new one I receive, the balancing is much better, instead of 300-400, it now 100 to 150. The capacity is reduced as it now fully charged.

Even if this work, it is so slow, that it won't be practical when using the battery. The solution I am planning is to add a active balancer. Hopefully this will resolve the issue.

There are many BMS bluetooth that is open to make any changes you want. Some not happy with performances of the BMS, have added active balancers. Most sealed lifepo4 batteries don't have bluetooth and if they did, you would need to open up the unit to replace BMS or add active balancers. One reason many prefer kits. Once you play with a battery that is sealed, warranty is questionable.

For proof, search the internet and see the many example of open bluetooth apps allowing you not only to view but to make changes. Setting for residential/business parameter would not alway be best for RV, Campers. They want max storage.

I don't think battleborn had builtin bluetooth a while back, they may now have it, never check as i not interested in sealed units. Check their site.
