Previous post was incomplete, i am making new one with more details.
This is my first solar system installation and I guess i bricked my inverter i dont know if it is my fault i am pretty sure that i followed all the instructions carefully
At Powland site i found that for "batteryless firmware".
usb.png
"If the machine works normally, do not upgrade this firmware. The current firmware is only upgraded when there is no battery."
I went step by step according the pdf
Untitled.png

I made the update succesfully but after that the inverter is dead.

The display is off, buttons are not doing something, neither the on/off switch.
The inverter seems off,no ac output any more
The wifi rs485 is powered,3 leds from 4 are on (power, net, com) but the 1 (srv) is off and at the app, the inverter is not online
The pc finds the connection with the otg cable but i cant do anything.

I have know the inverter stand alone not connected to anything only in otg cable and this is what ia have

This is not real,no PV connected to get power from
and when i am trying to "reupdate" the inverter is gettting this
Untitled.png

I am quite sure that the fault is the firmware was faulty or not installed ok.So i tried to contact EASUN or the reseller with no success.I can see that many other in the forum enjoy the no support of them
Is there any way to flash a working firmware?Do i need extra hardware and software to do that.. maybe a rs485 usb cable to re flash the inverter

I had the same. But I using such cable for upgrade (USB 2.0 AM/BM, I took it from my home printer) 1675671582502.png

And problem was in connected wifi module. In other words when when wifi (or probably something else) is connected in rs485 port firmware update stucks in 2%, but after disconnecting wi fi and retriggering firmware its completed succesfully.
If u also need 6.63 ver, pls find it in attachments

Thank you for you anwser but i already have disconected
I am quite sure that i my situation is worst.

[2023-02-06 18:27:14] Port status: comm port: COM8 9600 opened
[2023-02-06 18:27:14] send up cmd.
[2023-02-06 18:27:14] waitforupcmdresp_serial.
[2023-02-06 18:27:24] wait response time out.
[2023-02-06 18:27:24] Port status: comm port: COM8 9600 closed

The installation stops at 2% with or without wifi module and the comm port stops after timeout
I have already printer usb cable
Also the bin you sent me is for 3KW and i have 5KW model

Hi,

Did you solve your problem? I found a 6.33 firmware for the 5.6KW model, but did not try.
My EAsun works almost well, don't want it to stop working completely.

The wifi module communicates (modbus IP to serial) with the EAsun. It is clear that before doing the upgrade it is necessary to disconnect the wifi datalogger. The USB port of the EAsun SMX is connected to a "USB to serial chip CH340T", using the wifi module could conflict with this serial connection.

Did you note the original firmware version before updating?

My EAsun SMX II 5.6kW have this version :

Firmware : 6.17
Boot loader : 2.01

@dim82gr

What tool are you trying to upgrade? The one installed with the iPower 2.1.2 app (seems newer) or with storeui?

I did not checked the version before, and I didn't knew that i had to remove the datalogger, they sent me "instructions " and they did not mentioned that.

I tried both of the tools, storeui not saw the inverter at all,the other finds the inverter but not getting neither sending data

I will try the 6.63 version tomorrow. I had flashed this device multiple times and always bricked it for first try. If you have an rs485 to usb converter try with that, the pinout is in the inverter's manual. You can try with USB but don't turn on the power switch, once I had success like that. You have to connect AC input or batteries while flashing, maybe both. I flashed with a laptop which has a metal case and realized if I hold my hands on the metal part of the laptop and grab the inverter housing it will flash instantly, no kidding! This device is extremely noisy. When trying to read data with USB I tried this and worked until I released the inverter, very strange.

Warning : it's a firmware for SMX II 5.6kW version

I work with Linux and via a python script and "minimalmodbus" I can read info from my EAsun SMX II 5.6kW AIO (via the USB port). This can also be done with Windows. In your place, if I had an AIO with a starting problem, I would start by testing the proper functioning of the modbus protocol and seeing if it is possible to communicate with the AIO.

I think you have to try just with the batteries connected and the switch OFF. If necessary I could do tests on mine to see in what minimum state it is possible to communicate in modbus.

If you can still communicate via modbus with your AIO then maybe there is still a chance to resuscitate it.

Modbus is an open protocol, attached is a PDF file detailing the operation and registers of the modbus SRNE protocol V1.7.

Without going into details, there are two types of modbus commands. The commands to read and those to write in the registers.

Maybe if I could help you, I'm interested but I don't do too many tests on my AIO because it's in production.

Important: AIO is slave and by default with the address 1. Master is the one that connects to AIO so for example the WiFi datalogger (via RS485 port), the iPower application on your PC or any other application such as the firwmare update tool, a script, a terminal or Solar Assistant (via USB port). As I said in a previous post, to avoid problems you must use just ONE master!

Good luck guys

Here is the upgrade procedure found in iPower 2.1.2.0 help manual.
It's more detailed than what was sent to you.

Attached iPower 2.1.2.0 manual and software.

iPower Windows 2.1.2.0

Before following the upgrade procedure point 8) I advise you to :

1) disconnect your wifi datalogger
2) do a factory reset of the parameters by pressing UP and DOWN at the same time for several seconds (video)
3) connect your PC on the USB port of the AIO (the firmware upgrade tool can be found in the iPower application)

Доброго дня! У мене Easun SMX II 3.6kW. Ті ж самі проблеми і питання. Хотів би здзвонитись та обговорити, якщо ви не проти. Я зі Львова)))

I would like to try to help you. I contacted EAsun to get the regular firmware for my EAsun SMX II 5.6kW, it's not won.

You can also try to contact EAsun to get the firmware of SMX II 3.6KW.

There are two types of firmware, with and without battery. It would be nice to be able to get them.

In case EAsun provides the correct firmware, I could try to help by logging into your PC remotely with TeamViewer or something else.

Version 6.63 before upgrade. My friend had never upgraded and he has the 6.63 too so I can say that the original version is definately 6.63.

For those who have bricked their EAsun SMX, have you tried to communicate with it via modbus on the USB port ?
