Searching for an all in one with UL cert that is expandable for batteries.
After seeing Bluetti was pausing shipments for QC of their B300 batteries and backordered on the AC300 till March or later shipping, I got curious about the Renogy Lycan 5000 that was on preorder through today at a discount.
Both units being new, there is very little information other than their specs/manuals out there.
Any feedback on either of these two expandable units or purchasing from Renogy vs Bluetti?

I bought one of the Lycan 5000 and so far I like it.
The point that sold me is the water and dust proof cabinet.
I would like Will to to do a review of the unit and talk about connecting other 48V 100Ah rack or wall mounted batteries instead of paying $1,700 for the Renogy 48v 50Ah batteries.
The manual has a big warning that damage to the non-Renogy batteries.
I understand that the battery status won't show up in the Renogy app but who cares.

Will, could you do a review of the Renogy Lycan 5000 and talk about the expansion of this unit with other vendors' Rack style or another form factor 48v batteries? Also, compare the Lycan to the EcoFlo and Ankers' solar generators. I know that the Lycan is not as portable as most of the other Solar generators, but for an off-grid solution that can stay outside could fit a lot of people's needs.
The Lycan comes with 2 48v 50Ah batteries, and I have found that EG4 currently makes a Waterproof 48v 100Ah battery that is less than what Renogy is selling their 48v 50Ah expansion batteries for. Would mixing 50Ah and 100Ah batteries cause damage to the 50Ah batteries?
I called Renogy Support, and of course, they said that adding other non-Renogy batteries could cause damage to the Renogy batteries.
I'm sure the EG4-WP-48 Bluetooth communication protocol differs from the one Renogy uses.

You are one person that I trust with all things solar!
Thank you for all you do for us!

Anything else? ?

Seriously though, yeah I’d like to see all that as well.
I say all the time that I don't have Alzheimer, but I sure have Sometimers!
And recently, it has turned into Mosttimers...

Maybe we need to talk to Renogy and have them send him one to review! :)

I’d almost bet they have a latest greatest updated model coming out soon…

I know this post is way late on this thread, but people might like the information.
There is nothing new about the guts of the Lycan 5000. The biggest thing that made me buy it is the Water/Dust Proof steel case on wheels.
The Charge Controller, Inverter, BT2, 2 Batteries, and circuit breakers are the tried and true Renogy components.

There a YouTube video of an individual using the Lycan with a Victron Autotransformer for step up from 120v to split phase /240. Haven’t seen any further updates to it. Lycan seems like a cool unit.
