Help us design a rack-mounted system for the UK

@Ben@Fogstar

O That is good news and VERY good timing for you guys as I was just about to order some SOK batteries

I will call you on Monday to place my order if that's ok

Noticed the fogstar rack battery is saying end of june now,is this for new purchases only?? as already purchased about a month ago!!

Has anyone used the fogstar batteries with Sunsynk inverter? or know if it's compatible?
Been leaning towards Sunsynk inverter and exploring batteries that are compatible, other than the sunsynk ones. I quite like the fogstar cabinet setup 15kwh. @Ben@Fogstar

@Ben@Fogstar

just wanted to add to this topic,

many thanks, my three rack batteries have arrived, not opened then as yet.

one question for me and the others.

do your rack batteries have built in pre charge resistors???

do i still need to turn off ac and dc isolators before connection of battery to inverter then turn breaker on for battery??,received rack and battery today,thanks,just need to connect now.

I would say yes,

turn off any loads from the inverter as a minimum

thanks for replys,where would be the best place to source 4m battery cables and what size is recomended to connect the fogstar battery as need longer cable to reach where battery going to be thanks.Uk suppliers preferably??

you should be following the inverters manual,

I have four fogstar 100a rack batteries (but that's only half the equation) my inverter can pull huge current hence it is recommended in my manual to use 120mm cable (4/0 AWG) to a maximum of 5 feet

you really should be following the recommendations of the inverter manufactures as they have done all the load testing

not going to rush into anything thats why im asking questions and on forums reading,this is diy forum so,but any guidance and help much appreciated,have a solis 3.6 hybrid mcs certified and most of energy getting exported,thats why i got the battery,not easy finding sparky to connect battery,most want to sell and connect.

do you have only the one Fogstar battery ???

If so, it does not seem like enough.

Solis 3.6 has max draw of 62.5A.

You will need to size cable accordingly to a) carry that current and b) not have too much voltage drop. Obviously bigger is better, within your budget limits.

One source of cables in the UK (including pre-crimped ones) is here...

one just now,its money side of things for now,just wanted to see if that fills up first along with usual loads from house then get another!

All depends on one's own requirements and budget. You and me obviously have more (20kWh and 15kWh respectfully).

A single 5.1kWh is perfect for 'load balancing' out the clouds in the day and keep you going into the evening, especially if you cook with gas. As always it's a law of diminishing returns (ROI-wise).

And he can always add to the setup later in the year if demand and budget dictates.

Thanks SeaGal and Urge38,as said before all info appreciated and not going to rush.just didnt like exported energy but if battery fills i will definately get another as got the rack unit aswell!!

Sounds a good plan. If you can get the rack nearer the Solis, all the better; if not, you will need to invest in thicker cables.

well !!!! ish !!!! may be !!!

I had ordered three 5KW batteries, but after reading the Manuel in more depth, schneider recommends a MINIMUM of 400amps, so I had to bite the bullet and buy another one.

my point being, I did not make the schneider, schneider did (obviously) they know the internal workings and its requirements.
who are we to argue hence me advising joe900 follows his manufacturers recommendations.

I was totally un aware there was a minimum requirement battery amp for my inverter, but luckily, I read said Manuel (not fully yet lol)
