So I picked up an older club DS cart with 6 rather old and spent deep cycle 8 batteries. The motor is a series wound unit and worked okay if we charged the batteries up often. We bought it help move my 89yr old father from the camper to the docks, etc. I did some research and the existing controller is able to support 225-235amps. We are putting some larger tires on it and a small lift. We don't plan to use it as an all out neighborhood racer or anything like that. We might consider a conversion to a newer motor and larger controller at some point in the future.

My question is this. Given that the battery bay has a couple frame members running through it at an angle it makes putting something like an eg4-wp 48v battery possible but we would need to move the old charger port out of the way. Another idea would be to use 4 of the newer mini 100ah 100amp bms batteries. They measure out so that they can fit in there without much issue. From a power draw would be better off with the 4 minis with each having a 100amp bms or the eg4-wp with its single 200amp bms? Budget is a big consideration right now.

The four in series will only have 100 amp ability the bms on any one of the batteries will shut down with a load over 100 amps
