Hi,

I've just recieved my new Solis AC Coupled inverter, I'm just going over the installation but the guide seems to reference connecting the Inverter to the Acrel meter with an RJ45 connection. To my surprise it only came with a two pin cable (red and black) and what I believe to be a 3 phase Acrel meter?

First of all will this work with single phase? If so does anyone know where the red and black cables go into the meter for the RS485 connection? It appears to be port 21 and 22 but I dont know which one is for red and which is for black? Does it even matter? Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Yes, 22/23 are the RS485 connections on the meter, it won't hurt anything with those wires are reversed, so pick one way and if the inverter can't communicate, swap them.

Thanks, I found a youtube video for a a different Solis Inverter/meter that suggests A is red and B is black so I'll try that. Any idea's if this meter should work with single phase? From a manual I found about it it may work?

Ok. So I managed to get it powered on by using port 12 and 13 on the meter, however it’s not picking anything up. Looking at the diagram in my first post should I try jumping 12 to 1 and 13 to 4?

My manual says:
Red wire is RS485A
Black wire is RS485B
Pin 21 – RS485A, Pin 22 – RS485B

Connect CT1 and power and you should be good to go once the correct meter type is configured on the inverter.

Thanks, I've now spoken to the people I purchased it from and going to ask if they could send me a 1 phase meter (as that is what I purchased). Unfortunately there is little to no instruction on Solis' side despite it being them who have a 1 phase/3 phase varient, I suspect they've probably not come across someone trying to use a 3 phase meter on 1 phase!

Let's see how far I get, in theory with a 1 phase meter its as simple as supplying power, connecting the CT Clamp and connecting the RJ45 communication cable.

Ok, think I have fixed it, so I came across this article:

It's regarding a hybrid inverter but intrigued if it would work and it seems to be!

So I connected the live and neutral to pin 1 and 4 as well as 12 and 13 and it seems to be working!

Pin 1 - Live
Pin 4 - Neutral

Pin 13 - Neutral
Pin 12 - Live

Pin 5 & 6 - CT Clamp

Pin 21 - Red RS485
Pin 22 - Black RS485
