diy solar

62v of ac power is shocking me when I touch the framework on my trailer and the framework on my utility box inside the trailer.

1. As I have said multiple times I have already bonded neutral and ground in the panel once one of the other guys who already knows everything told me to.

2. Grounding my truck, and trailer I am willing to do just haven't seen other rvs with solar equipment or generator have to do that when they pull into a parking lot overnight? Is it possible to have a rv style solar system without a ground?

It's not something that you would be able to see. Unless they showed you all of their wiring.

For clarity, I'm not referring to connecting earth to your grounding system.
As in a ground rod.

Ok so obviously I am misunderstanding what you mean by ground because i would see if the other rvs were setting up some grounding/earthing rod around the generator when they camp overnight in a parking lot next to me. What do you mean by grounding?

Do you mean bond the metal to my grounding line? I haven't done that and just thought that would be bad but I am going to try if you say. Sorry about being a little rude I have just spent many days trying to find a solution to this problem and everyone has been pretty rude and cocky with me on here but not really helping with anything.

When you establish your N/G bond. That is the beginning of your grounding system. Your grounding system is connected to everything that is conductive, and accessible to people.
Metal enclosures, raceways, frames.
Your truck should already have everything bonded together. So, one good connection to the frame. Is all that you should need. To take care of the entire truck.
The trailer could be similar, but you will need to verify that.

Thank you sir! that is the first time that has been suggested and makes alot of smarts to me. I will do that and test but already see that as the solution.

It also occurs to me because of the way I wired all this with individual wires not like romex the lack of proper insulation may be causing a trans former style wire jump causing the lower voltage and very minimal amps on the frame and between the wires???

If that is the case does this effect pose any danger to my system?
Yes
Everything that can be touched, and can conduct electricity. Should be connected to, and be a part of your grounding system.

One other question grounding a 120vac to the chassis won't cause any problems with the 12 volt negative chassis connection that my truck and trailer use will it?

Just add the straps propane delivery trucks have that drag the ground. No more getting shocked.

I have been considering that as well but I think it would create a potential situation with connecting to shore power?

Not sure. I just googled it and everywhere it claims it doesnt work and its a myth but I know all the propane trucks around here have them and I know two guys that drive for them and swear it works. Take it with a grain of salt I guess but it wouldn't hurt to try it.

If your worried on connecting up lift the thing before connecting?

I use to drive gas tankers definately use to be a thing for static electricity but I think 20 years ago someone invented something that got rid of static electricity without the chains and the chains weren't ideal because they would create sparks.

Not an issue, unless the the wires are arranged in a coil. Multiple loops of extra wire.

This is mainly for static discharge.
And it's not very effective. But does not hurt to have them. So, it's kinda erroring on the side of caution.

I'll just put out an alternative possibility: remove the cheapest inverter I've ever seen and install something of higher quality. I'm not sure it will help, but if you think you've got everything bonded, I'm out of other ideas.
