Has anyone come up with a way to remotely reboot Solar Assistant over the internet or wi fi?.

Install webmin.

Its free and I use it on all of my servers. It actually allows you to fully control the machine its running on so not only can you reboot it you can do about anything else you want to do with it just like being there.

Just choose reboot in webmin and it will reboot the pi. It can also be used to turn the pi off so you can safely work on it without risking your data.

This of course requires you to gain access to the command prompt on the pi to install it. There are threads on here for doing that.

I wonder if he asked the question because the Pi locks up after a firmware update.
I don't know why I have that problem and no one else seems to.
I always have to go into the electrical room and unplug it and reboot it after a firmware update. It's not a big issue, I just wonder why mine does that and no one else has the problem.

The pi's firmware?

Last tab on right (configuration tab), scroll down to “system” and there’s a reboot button.
I’m guessing he can’t get to it for some reason or another otherwise that works quite well.
I’ve even used it.

Remote power Plug if you can’t reach the App.

Tons on Amazon..
Sudden power loss to the pi can corrupt the SD card. You should perform a proper power down via pi button or software before removing power source.

All of the last 3 or 4 versions install properly but on the reboot phased they just hang. I have to cycle the power in order to access back SA.
Maybe I am not waiting long enough??
I have given it like 10 minutes and I still cannot access the IP and no data is being read from the inverter.

I have used the reboot option in the configuration tab before. The issue Issue I have is that it works fine most of the time but then I check the webpage and it says cannot connect like it loses wifi. So I have no way to hit the reboot button in the program since it's not working/ connected. I have to go downstairs and manually push the reset button on the Pi to restart it then after a few min it works. The remote power plug won't work as it is powered by the eg4 batteries.

Try accessing the ip of your SA pi instead of going through the internet to their server. You have to be connected to the same LAN but it's a lot quicker. The ip is shown in the configuration tab as wlan0

Yes I am doing that but still no luck.
My USB-Serial adapter has a data light that blinks when data is being transferred. It does not blink after an update/reboot, so I know that the Pi is not even communicating with the Inverter and it also does not reconnect to the WiFi.
Basically it's locked up after an update.
It's not a big issue, I just have to physically be near the unit after an update.
One day when I have the time I need to hook a monitor directly up to it and see what is going on.

As an experiment, the next time you download an update, unplug your serial converter before proceeding with the apply update and restart part of the procedure. I’m wondering if the converter is causing a conflict?
