Hi there people.

I am wanting to buy a Tristar MPPT meter/screen.

these chaps are the cheapest I can find here in the UK.

But I just have that niggle in the back of my head,

what do you think!!! should I trust them???

who has a bank transfer as the primary payment method?? and take a look at the team,

I am not sold but happy to hear what you guys think before I lay down my money.

Looks odd. They are selling solar equipment but their solar panels are mostly 10W and 30W panels? 80W max. The small charge controllers are sized right. But none of this is going to do what their website claims in any meaningful way: reduce energy bills and CO2.

And how can they have so many executives and design engineers doing what looks like mom and pop stuff (for product sales)?

Nice website; pleasing to the eye, well laid out and fully functional.

Credit card or nothing for me.

Morningstar is good equipment but can't speak for that website or dealer.

Bank transfer would certainly raise a red flag with me.

If you read their terms and conditions you agree to allow them free access to your property for removal of supplied goods. Also if you fail to inform them of non delivery of goods within 7 days of despatch then tough luck. Avoid.

Both of those two are illegal in the UK, neither would stand up in court

That said I certainly wouldn't be buying from them

Sorry to spam your thread here !

This is another very good deal, morningstar TriStar 60a mppt 600v max PV model , usually £1,300 , down to £600 brand new

These external meters are compatible with all the different tristar model btw

I have the Tristar MPPT (I got the 45amp one at half price from a known seller) I am after the meter for it

How old is the unit? If it is newer (mine is 2009), it will have a web interface if need something to get going. The amount of info on the monitor is disappointing and the amount of thing you can set or change is pretty much squat.

But, if you want something to look at quickly, touching any button to light up is mighty nice.

I've only just purchased the tristar mppt less than a week ago

So I am guessing it is a current model

Haven't seen a date stamp on it yet, so can't say the year of manufacture

At present, I don't have a battery shunt and to be honest, I wasn't intending on getting a shunt

If the tristar screen is not that useful, might i be better off with a battery shunt instead????

I got a victron bmv712 shunt instead of the ts-meter screen (same price~), I think the victron app is better . Easy to read over Bluetooth on a smartphone

Its a battery monitor , but also you can set it up as a dedicated an energy monitor/meter, wired on the MPPTs output cables

this gives you accurate solar production figures , the victron shunt is basically acting in the same way as the tristar meter display
