Inverter died suddenly

Hi guys

I have a 1.2kw hybrid off grid inverter.

Around 6 month's ago it kept making a high frequency noise and then went away.

In October I went to turn on the inverter and it was dead.

The battery is 100%, the solar input is fine. I tried connecting 240v power to the input on the 240v connection and still have no power.

I took it to an electric shop and they didn't test it properly and I'm unsure what the issue is.

Visibily the unit looks fine and the battery voltage is 12.6v.

The unit is a conversol inverter.

Any ideas anyone?

Warranty?

Sometimes high pitch before something failing completely can indicate you had a capacitor failing (causing an electrical "ringing" noise) until it finally goes bad enough that it can't operate anymore.

Just a total shot in the dark.

Now that both the battery and solar panel are fine, you d better find the customer service to get you a replacement if the inverter is still covered by warranty.

If the inverter is under warranty, it is recommended that you go directly to customer service, after the warranty period, if you can, open the inverter housing and visually inspect the internal components for signs of damage, such as burnt areas or loose connections.

Hi guys I'm really sorry, I didn't get a notification that anyone had responded.

Unfortunately the unit is no longer under warranty and the company want £70 before even fixing it.

The unit is a conversol mpp solar hybrid 1.2kw.12v system with dual mppt inverter.

Visually I cannot see any issues, I'm assuming capacitor but there is no signs of damage and there are a lot to replace. I have used my tester and it's very hard to get clear readings.

I'm gutted as this unit cost me a lot ?? and I use it for my 3d printing.

Any help appreciated ??

That sounds like it was loaded to the max. Maybe you just worked it to death?

It has only been used with a device that's 350w. It's a 1kw inverter

I see a lot of mediocre brand caps in there. This one looks maybe domed a bit on top.

The seller has offered to test and diagnose for free, I just need to pay shipping.

I might try this first, but I hope it's an easy fix like you are suggesting. I wish I could solder.
