Hello guys I'm new here. I work for a China battery company and I guess I know something you're interesting in. Ask whatever you wanna know

Have you ever had an incidents? you know, someone drops a wrench on a battery, something explodes, etc?
In battery manufacturing, there are two specified tests. In the first test, after charging the battery cell according to the specifications of 3.2, a heat-resistant steel needle with a diameter between ϕ5 mm and ϕ8 mm is used. The needle is inserted at a speed of (25±5) mm/s, perpendicular to the direction of the battery cell's electrode plate. The penetration point should be close to the geometric center of the pierced surface. The steel needle is left in the battery cell, and observation is carried out for 1 hour.
In the second test, the battery cell, charged according to the specifications of 3.2, is subjected to compression. A semi-cylindrical body with a radius of 75 mm is pressed vertically towards the direction of the battery cell's electrode plate at a speed of (5±1) mm/s. The compression is stopped when the voltage reaches 0 V, or the deformation reaches 30%, or the compression force reaches 200 kN. Observation is conducted for 1 hour after the compression.
The final result must be that the battery cell does not explode or catch fire.

What is the largest capacity prismatic cell you manufacture?

I am more interested with the gray market questions.
I understand the best batteries are reserved for those high end automotive or stationery energy storage stuff.
How about those cells that don't pass the test? There are many questions I like to ask about these "unwanted" cells that currently in gray market.3

  1. Why are those cells "discarded"?
  2. What kind of tests that make those cells failed to be qualified?
  3. Why company doesn't simply recycle those failed cell, yet they auctioned those and many unscrupulous people "relasered" it to trick people?
  4. Why the manufacture does have DIRECT TO Customers sales?
