    LiFePo4 batteries 8 years old.

What would you pay for good quality LiFePo4 batteries 8 years old hardly used in a caravan but trickle charged and maintained the whole time. Would 50% of the original cost be too much?

Are batteries just for back up power and not to be used all the time?

I produce 12KW every night from 5PM until 7AM or 900Watts for 14 hours Going two years now no effect on batteries yet. I have 18KW of storage. The battery protectors set at 23.5V - so that's the lowest voltage they go. I charge LiFePo4 to 28V every night. I watch Gumtree & Facebook sites & buy...

Growatt WIFI stick no longer working

For me. All is hardwired. I avoid WiFi wherever possible.Good Power line adapters are my next best friend. Purchasing hard wired versions of any device comes first. Reluctantly I use WiFi then Bluetooth. Even then I look to replace those at any given opportunity. Although that is getting harder...

    Crimping tool recommendations for MC4

I haven't seen bare copper in any twin core solar cable in Australia. It is all tinned along with the lugs. Tin and tin oxides are known to react with phosphoric acid to produce highly insoluble and relatively inert compounds. I didn't know your twin core solar cable had bare copper in the USA...

Best residential plug for 12v in house? (vs 120v)

For me I would only use 120v AC plugs. (In my case 240V AC in Australia.) There are so many types 120V AC plug in power packs etc. out there it is unbelievable. One to suit every need you could think of. Adding 12v around a cabin/house can only create problems. IMO It increases the complexity of...

Using solar micro inverters with batteries instead of panels

All Micro-Inverters have a MPPT voltage range. In this case 27v-39v. But the operating range is up to 48v So..... from what I have seen if you go over 39v the MPPT turns off. You don't really need MPPT if you have constant power from a battery. How micro-inverters perform when you "switch of"...

Using solar micro inverters with batteries instead of panels

Thanks very mIuch for this. I had a sneaking suspicion about this. I decided to use, after much research, to use 24V because it has been around a long time and there are a lot of devices that just work with it really solidly & robustly. Initially I only purchased 2 new 24v LiFePo4 batteries...

    Crimping tool recommendations for MC4

I only use solder. I dip each end in phosphorcic acid then solder. Not sure if there is Ranex rust remover in the USA. That has phosphoric acid and works well. When I crimp a whole bunch one or two usually pull off on testing strongly by hand using pliers. When I soder I can't even pull the...

Running 48v inverter from my 24v battery bank - 1kw boost converter possible?

I am not a fan of boost converters on bigger draw devices as I find the adjustment fiddly. At $29 you are not going to get a good quality boost device IMO. I would only use a 24V inverter myself mainly because moving away from a simple system to a more complex setup requires more devices &...

Using solar micro inverters with batteries instead of panels

Sorry, one more quick question for you about battery voltage: All of your results after 2 years of continuous use have been with a 24VDC battery, correct? _Correct You experimented with DC-DC boost up to 32V and maybe even close to 48VDC but you have not yet tested anything running directly off...

Using solar micro inverters with batteries instead of panels

Note: Over the last three years I have tested so many combinations of devices you would not believe. Starting with a computer UPS that 4 different electricians said would not work. What I have distilled is our best observations, that we have shared, over that time. OK, so the Micro-Inverter...

Using solar micro inverters with batteries instead of panels

Well it's worked for two years so far. Re properly sized to handle load. Keeping the voltage at the low end seems to work fine. The imicro-nverter can take from 20v to 46v. I stick with 24v. This gives me 200w @ 240vac. I do have one set up from my original experimentation that has a boost...

looking for a LiFePO4 UPS solution for modem/router

As well as serving as a 5KW @ 240v UPS... The LFP I have gets used every night. It supplies 300 W @ 240 V for 14 hours 365 days a year. Using solar micro inverters with batteries instead of panels

Not sure - none of them get hot. They have all been running for over a year. By ramping up the voltage to 30 volt using the buck converter one is producing 300 W @ 240 V AC and still not getting hot. That one is still running. I pefer my new method.

Please lay out your questions so they are easier to read. I use a 24 volt system to keep each in a small package size.
