It worked... Then it didn't. Why?

Its the MPP. It's stays powered on, and the cells stay together.

I feel like I have read that these LV2424s can be stacked somehow, paralleled. I have a dormant one. I wonder if I should try and figure out how to stack two units, if it would get me over the hump for now, increasing the threshold of my inverter. Have you any knowledge of if this is feasible.

    Victron inverter/charger options (overwhelmed)

Thanks, Rick. Yeah, in my case it will be not tied to the utility, but is completely off-grid, so paying for those features minus the name, service, warranty part would sorta be a waste. I could literally buy a backup unit of each and be breaking even. I think that's more where I'm at right now...

    Victron inverter/charger options (overwhelmed)

Thanks for that info. I didn't mean to get down to an exact dollar amount in the separation between other options, but still a big difference. Like this from SunGoldPower on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DE97PH0/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza And this to combine it with...

    Victron inverter/charger options (overwhelmed)

These seem super pricey for just an inverter. What warrants the extra thousands over other well reviewed units?

    Victron inverter/charger options (overwhelmed)

Gotcha, thanks. What is the "charger" part of the inverter/charger exactly?

    Victron inverter/charger options (overwhelmed)

So there is no AC 120v option available for the us above a 3000w inverter that we know of? Does anyone have some experience and feedback on how the SCC aspect of the Multiplus performs? I've read that sometimes the 2 in 1 units can be lacking.

It worked... Then it didn't. Why?

No, no cash to waste. But I'm building a bit of a village. The 3 systems are not a progression, they are independent systems. Each supplying power to 3 separate locations. All are 2.4kw LV2424s with a 24v 280aH Lifepo4. I have most of what I'd need for a 4th separate system, minus the SCC and...

It worked... Then it didn't. Why?

I have realized that I need a 4th system, and am thinking about doing a "real" one, not an All-in-one this time like my LV2424s. I don't really need this 4th system for a couple of years, but in light of my recent short term power needs for power tools, I may put this together sooner rather than...

So that could be it for sure. It's a 1200w/10a saw with a 1500w/12.5a HEPA Vac. Could it just be "worn" on some level now, and tolerating less? The ambient temp definitely isn't the main issue. It was way hotter before. These past few days have been the mildest and most survivable in months. I...

I'll find out. Because I intend to put someone on that saw and vac, while I stand by the unit with bluetooth BMS cell displayed in hand. We'll find out quick. Thanks for this. And if it is the box thermal shutdown, any recommendations then? And how would that explain that it used to not cut...

Well, that's helpful. I'm all about time consuming. It actually probably wouldn't take much more time and attention than all my top balances. I got two packs to top balance at 3.65 on the little 5a charger and am working on the third. First pack took 4 or 5 days but it had been used with the...

    Spark Pop On LV2424

I have not had the spark one time since grounding each LV2424. I drove two 8' copper rods into the ground six feet apart and connected them with 10awg solid copper. There is a screw and washer on the bottom of those units with a ground logo by it. Best I could tell, they wanted me to make my...

How does the "recovery" process go, if possible. Just time and usage? Top balance again, or bottom?

Sorry, I missed this earlier. No, that cell is holding some papers down on a desk.

Hi. Thank you for the compliments. We were literally hours from closing on the Ecuadorian land and Covid-19 hit new official heights, with more forecasting, amd we pulled the plug. It was enough at the time to scare us about the future. The one thing that we figured could be insurmountable for...

Just unnecessary and unwanted expenses and difficulties. The inspector here is contracted, not a government employee. He wont just show up. I've already done what I've done, here for everyone to see. If they say they need something from me in the future and tell me what, I'll say, Oh sure thing...

Fortunately, I have 2 new cells on their way from XUBA. One to replace my humongous one, and the other a just-in-case. Well, WAS a just-in-case. Now I may have a home for it. I may change my name to batterykiller on the forum. Maybe @Will Prowse wants to hire someone that works cheap just to...

How? I was thinking I would have my wife run the high amperage tools and at the same time I'd be at the batteries with a voltage meter.

Also, no not connected to a panel yet. I did put on a 30a DC fuse on the positive wire from the array. But I am just running my big boy extension cord to the home for now during building. This tiny home is permitted and has to have 100a city power supplied. But I think I will wait for the...

It worked... Then it didn't. Why?

Custom creating the 8awg 125' extension cord did not make an impact. Steve's comments are super helpful... maybe even probable. I'll do some testing today. But out of the gates this morning, the cells are very matched voltage wise. I actually have 4 of these systems. It might be worthwhile to...

I actually did happen to have a fan on it yesterday, and no...that didn't impact the behavior.

It worked... Then it didn't. Why?

Troubleshooting here. I had been running power tools problem free through my system and changed two things. Now running a track saw and vacuum combo cuts power halfway through an 8 foot rip... every time...and the same cut was no prob before. The two things I changed to the system: Added a BMS...

    Too many solar panels?

This is helpful, thank you. But if I have 2S4P you are saying you think I need a separate inline DC fuse on each series...4 total? If I was 3S3P, then 3 total? Can the wire sizing vs your potential voltage/amperage be your "fuse" if done right? I feel like I've seen you mention something like...

    Too many solar panels?

Wait, you can use a standard AC breaker box and breaker for incoming DC power from your array? How exactly would this be wired up or assembled, I didn't completely follow? Also, you use the word string...what exactly do you mean by that?

    Too many solar panels?

What are the total specs of your 2S4P array that led you to select a 25a fuse?

    Running wires over distance

I have been using my 24v MPPT to power my job site (approx 150') and have not had any real issues. I had my 250w, 37.6v, 8.27a panels in 3S3P (2250w, 113v, 25a). The manual gave an example setup as 2S4P and I thought that would work better for me in my layout so I made the adjustment. Well my...

LV2424 supply a Main Lug Sub Panel?

Yeah, I was planning on passing through a panel right out of the inverter through a 25a breaker, then on to the main lug. So that brings up a question I've had... is there a fuse of some sort in those things? Is it on the inverter out side? How big is it?

LV2424 supply a Main Lug Sub Panel?

No, it would be completely separate, maybe I didn't explain the layout fully or very well. Separate other than in the same home. Separate breakers in separate outdoor breaker boxes, one marked solar. Separate wires running into the home to separate outlets and outlet boxes, one marked solar...

LV2424 supply a Main Lug Sub Panel?

I'm not following fully. How would the grid be backfed if there is a completely separate system?

LV2424 supply a Main Lug Sub Panel?

You're saying I can just pigtail the hot wire when it goes in and split it to the other side? Genius. I am running a good ways so will be using the 2-2-4-6 I have. I hope it fits in the slots. The RV recommendation is awesome too, I didn't know that. I'm glad I asked and didn't throw the towel in.

LV2424 supply a Main Lug Sub Panel?

Does anyone familiar with the LV2424 know if it is possible to run the 25a it is good for to a main lug sub panel? Typically, these take two hot wires and the neutral to power 8 breaker spots or so. But the output power from the LV2424 is designed more for essentially just running a...
