Does anyone think this pump is good?

https://springpump.com/product/peripheral-solar-water-pump-direct-dc-24vsy-qb70-550/ Has anyone used this water pump. Do you think is any good. Could this be hooked to a pressure tank. This would be used to pump water for a off-grid cabin from a rainwater water tank.

    80% rule on solar circuits?

The fuses and breakers are rated 75°C. I don't want to use 90°C anyway to keep things cool. Is IMP 26.32A to much for 10awg solar wire? Or should I get 8 awg. It's just that a construction company gave me a bunch of leftover 10awg offcuts that is more than enough for my project. They are long...

    80% rule on solar circuits?

    The PV insulation is rated 90°C. The 75°C rating for 10awg is 35 so 26.32 × 1.25 = 32.90A If using 1.56 for cloud edge effects 26.32 × 1.56 = 41.06A which is even higher than the 90°C rating. However, if I use 1.50 I get 39.48 A

    80% rule on solar circuits?

1S2P panel configuration. (Two panels that are in parallel there are no series connections). Not using MMPT. The positive of each string is connected to an ideal diode charge controller and the negative is connected to the battery. Each charge controller has two ideal diodes each taking one...

    80% rule on solar circuits?

I plan to use 450watt panels. I want to put two panels per string in parallel because I'm using Electrodocus. The runs will be quite short because it's a 12x16 ft cabin so voltage drop isn't that much of a concern. I was gifted a bunch of 10 AWG RMW-2 wire. It says the circuit protection should...

    Battery fuse?

I have two 24V/3000/70 multiplus inverters vectron says to use a 300A fuse. I'm using 250A fuses and 2/0 wire so I could put a 300A fuse if nessisary. The 12V version uses 400A fuse and the 48V 125A so I feel 250A is sufficient for mine. How big does the battery fuse need to be? Do you just add...

    Looking for a DC timer

I'm look for a 24 hour timer that can switch a low amperage DC relay circuit between two branch circuits. The timer would be set so during the day contact A would be connected to B and closed to C and at night contact A would be connected with C and closed to B. I have no idea what this would be...

    Clothes Dryer

It will produce 1/4 the wattage on half the voltage. If the heating element is shortened by one half the resistance halves. That theoretically should double the current and make it designed for 120. Yes the rest of the dryer runs on 120 I think. I don't know about the motor though.

    Solar panel grounding

I should probably draw a whole diagram of this but I can't today. I'm making a small off-grid cabin. There are 3 rows of 4 solar panels on the main roof 12 total. Two smaller ones next to it on a shed. The wires for the solar panels that are charging the battery come down near the front of the...

    Clothes Dryer

I don't know either but since the wire is half the length but the same amount of apps. However, that doesn't make any sense now that I think of it because it's the same wire gauge, same amps.

    Water heater thermostat control board

The space of the water heater wasn't really a problem, just how long it takes to heat up. I think I'll go with 20 gallon. A 10 gallon maybe too small as it won't be enough for the shower. Crydon makes lots of heavy duty Dcdc relays up to 160A. Thanks for your input. I just realized a normally...

    Clothes Dryer

Well the dryer can't take three phase. I now understand when the element is connected to 208V can't draw as many amps because the resistance is set at the heating element. If the dryer was to run at 120V the wattage would be 1/4 of what it would be at 240. If you shortened in the heating...

    Clothes Dryer

Do you know how many amps your dryer uses on high? I'm trying to figure out the high to medium amperage ratio. I have a dryer that uses 24A 120/208V and 26A 120/240V I don't understand why the 240 is higher other than is the 208 three phase? So I know it use this no more than 26 amps on high...

    Water heater thermostat control board

Does anyone know how many amps a water heater circuit board and thermostat draws if there is no element connected. I plant to use a DC heating element connected to the battery using a relay. If the heating element isn't power through the AC power supply, how many amps would the other electronics...

Feast or Famine, The off grid solar dilemma.

That's only a 8 kg dryer though. Not tiny but might be too small for people that don't like to do laundry a lot. A larger capacity heat pump dryer would use more. That would be the perfect dryer for a medium RV.

    Battery Cables - Type/Brand?

Buy a quality hydraulic crimper (at least 12 tons) and some good 4/0 wire. I got the Windy Nation 4/0 but there's probably better brands. You can get tinned 4/0 if you want to be fancy. I'd also recommend the class t fuse for the battery cable. Blue sea makes a good fuse block.

Feast or Famine, The off grid solar dilemma.

That's what I was thinking too. ? My little 120 one uses less then 1500 watts (a little more considering inverter loss). Although takes like 2+ hours to dry a load. It's a washer ventless dryer combo machine. It "recycles" some of the heat by not having vent. It has a disadvantage of having to...

    Open Loop Solar Collector

Does anyone have any open loop solar water heating. Using either commercial or DIY solar collectors. This could be plastic or copper tubing as well. I live in Hawaii so there's no need for a closed loop system or glycerol. Do you recirculate the water from the cold side of the water heater back...

Cheap way to reduce hot water heater draw.

While this would probably double the time for it to heat the water you could consider converting your water heater to a DC one. Especially if you have a 48 volt battery. You could use a 2000W 48 volt heating element like Connect the leads from the board that go to the heating element to a 5 or...

    AC drain line in wall

This would added moisture inside of the exterior wall might lead to mildew in the wall or on the drywall. Has anyone built a AC drip line into the wall and...

    AC Relay with DC contacts

I'll Read more what people say on the forms about diversion. I was really thinking about heating water directly with panels but with diversion. I am using Diacan's Electrodacus Solar BMS and a 24V battery bank. This is a completely off grid installation. This was originally for a van but I'm...

    AC Relay with DC contacts

Thanks for the idea. I guess the AC to DC transformer wouldn't be that inefficient because it would only be running a little power to the relay. I don't know why I didn't think about that. Thanks.

    AC Relay with DC contacts

I want to run a hot water heater off 24V DC battery power (24V 715 AH lithium). My idea was to connect the water heater to AC power and use the thermostat wires that would go to the heating element to activate a relay that would close a DC circuit to power a DC heating element. Are there low...

LiPO4 cells still good after 16 months?

It was Hawaii so it could be hotter but it did get warm during the summer. Should the cell nomenclature be 3p8s then I was going to make one battery out of them with one BMS.

LiPO4 cells still good after 16 months?

I haven't checked the voltages. I don't think they shipped at a 100% SOC. I question was if I buy 8 more cells to add to the 16 for a 24 cell 8S3P battery. Originally this was it for a van. I bought what would fit in a small van. I'm putting this in a little house now. A 300 AH battery would...

LiPO4 cells still good after 16 months?

I bought 16 LiPo4 cells 16 months ago but haven't charged them yet. They were stored in a air conditioned storage unit for 7 months then a shipping container that sometimes had the doors open but usually got hot inside for 5 months and then indoors for 4 months. They are 100 AH prismatic cells...

Will 240 (120/240 appliance run off a transformer?

That's what I decided to do. Do you know how many amps the 24V 3000 multiplus uses. I'm trying to size the battery cables to a lynx distributor. Some people say 125 amps while others 175. Should their be a factor for energy loss like (5, 10 or 15%). 10% extra 138 amps. I'm trying to size the...

    Battery Cable size

Thanks for that link. I figured this all out a year ago and forgot where I got the information. The plan then was to use 2/0 for the battery cable but that was just with one 3kw inverter and some DC loads. I decided to change the system with two inverters. Is that wire calculator for continuous...

    Battery Cable size

What size battery cable for 300A? All the charts I find for battery cable sizing only go to 230 or so. I find welding cable charts but that is for intermittent use. What would the appropriate wire gauge be for a 300 amp continuous rating with a roundtrip of 10ft. (Probably be less but playing it...

Will 240 (120/240 appliance run off a transformer?

It's only a oven. It doesn't have burners. Oven is only rated 20 amps at 240 and won't use that continuously once it heats up. Max of 40 amps at 1200. I won't use it at night only during the day on the weekends. Planning on about 4800 watt Solar and 24V 600 AH battery. The oven won't be used all...
