New build for my new camper

I bought a new Host Yukon model pickup camper. It came with a small inverter wired to dedicated TV receptacles and 2 group 24 FLA 12V batteries. A solar system is being planned but I am about finished with the battery build. I did not have much space to work with in the battery compartment...

    Unequal SOC?

I am guessing about half is the refrigerator. It is a large propane model but has circulating fans inside (12V). The rest of it is small electronics -smoke/co2 detectors, LCI wifi so you can control some of the RV functions from an phone app. I am thinking or breaking out the refer...

    Unequal SOC?

Thank you again -I assumed correctly then as they are in a 4S4P not a 4 x 4S1P. I was thinking after I check your suggestion that I could take the pack apart and assemble with 4 new groups composed of one cell from each current group and charge as best I can. We are heading home tomorrow so...

    Unequal SOC?

Thank you that is a good suggestion. Since I have 4 in P would it be safe to assume that each group of 4 is at the same SOC? They have been in this configuration for 3 months now. BTW after I did the install in the new RV it sat on the charger for at least a month with no discharge cycles as...

    Unequal SOC?

I installed in a motor home in 2020 a 4S4P pack built from 16 ea Fortune 100AH LiFePO4 batteries I purchased from Electric Car Parts Co.. I also bought their BMS that is rated for max charge/discharge 200 amps. I was using it with a Xantrex inverter/charger rated at 2Kw/100amp charge. All was...

OH NO!!?? Have I killed my LifePO4 batteries?

Excellent! Sounds like you got it under control. Like I said earlier I bought the same number of Fortune batteries and they took an 80A charge for several hours. Make sure you only charge them to a pack total of 14.5V which should end up with cells at 3.63V just under the max. Good luck!

OH NO!!?? Have I killed my LifePO4 batteries?

Typically on your shunt there will be markings as to its calibration something like 50mV per 100A or such just an example. This would allow you to calculate the current with a separate volt meter and not rely on the monitor. My cells from the vendor were all 3.28V individualy and when I...

OH NO!!?? Have I killed my LifePO4 batteries?

I agree use a meter first on each cell.

OH NO!!?? Have I killed my LifePO4 batteries?

Hello Daz-The cell voltage does not seem all that low and you may not have damaged them. I think if this were my packs I would remove all loads and BMS wires and remove all series jumpers and attempt to get the cell voltages closer. Again I am not an expert but I think your cell voltages are...

OH NO!!?? Have I killed my LifePO4 batteries?

Correction above I meant instead of 2S4P really needed to say 4S2P. sorry

OH NO!!?? Have I killed my LifePO4 batteries?

I just installed in my RV those same batteries but did it in a 4S4P configuration with a single 200A BMS. I have to wonder (no claim to be an expert) when you assembled yours you made 2 2S4P packs. Did you use 2 BMS or one? You had to jumper the parallel cells if only one BMS. To your...

    RV battery upgrade

Thank you! Unfortunately I did not take pictures of the underside of the switch but it is simple enough to explain. The switch is mounted on a 3/8" aluminum plate on the box cover behind the switch. The ohm value was picked to allow the caps to charge but not with a surge. The highest charge...

    RV battery upgrade

The US based vendor refers to it as Simple BMS but there is no brand markings on it other than what may be the model J05W-FH05. I have been charging the pack at 80A for the last hour or so and BMS is cool to the touch. The nice thing about the switch is it can only be turned in the CW...

    RV battery upgrade

I had posted earlier about wanting to upgrade my RV batteries and was not sure which battery to use. I made the decision to purchase the Fortune 100Ah LiFePo cells. I bought 16 for a 4S4P pack and a 200A BMS. I already had a Xantrex XC inverter/charger. The pack feeds a junction box through a...

Power supply Will uses in evaluation of LiFePo cells purchased "I got ripped off"

Thank you for your replies and yes I went back to the video yes they were 120ah that tested at 105 and if I had re watched the video I would have seen Will used 3 PS to charge the batteries but later in the video where I clicked in to see the model he had only one sitting on the bench. Anyway...

Power supply Will uses in evaluation of LiFePo cells purchased "I got ripped off"

In the titled video above Will was evaluating some 105Ah cells he bought from Aliexpress. He is using what looks like a generic power supply with current and voltage controls. Does anyone know what brand/model this is. I don't think since the pack had a BMS that it was specifically a LIFePo...

Hello and advice on RV battery project

Thank you for your reply, I really appreciate it. I understand the battery chemistry that lends itself best to 12V systems is the LiFePO4 also I like the safety margins with them. My question is more about the online vendor Aliexpress and the prismatic LiFePO4 that I am looking at. I guess it...

    Fuse or circuit breaker?

Great answer. My solution would be to use both in series. Have convenience of CB and peace of mind with fuse.

Hello and advice on RV battery project

Hello all. I am looking for some advice on replacing RV FLA batteries. I am using 2 Trojan T1275 12V each rated at 150Ah /1.9Kwh each. I understand usable Kwh is probably about 1.9Kwh. I wish to replace them with a LiFePo4 4s cell pack. I have been looking at some 32650 cells at battery...
