    Fortune (Energetech) battery frames

Having worked with these a bit now I am not really convinced they are worth yet. I just spent half an hour gluing them to the batteries because they are not attached when they arrive. I am not really happy with having to use hot glue for this. Standard corage washers on the all thread extend...

    Useful nugget on top balancing...

Thanks to @Steve_S for this! Excerpted from another thread. "I am no expert, just a critical observer. There is far too much over concern about LFP cells sitting at "FULL" SOC. 3.65V and lower will NOT hurt the cells and over time they will self-discharge albeit quite slowly. The cells never...

    Small guage automatic wire stripper

Wow. I just used the automatic style stripping tool on 16 and 20 guage today and it blew me away. Not the same one as Will links to from mobile-solar.com but basically the same. It's magical. I've used cheap ones for years as a hobbyist and after the first wire I just stared at it for 30...

DIY Battery box wiring plan in a 40MM ammo can

Hi. I'm planning a modular backup power system for outages and camping. Here's my plan for the wiring in the battery box. Sizing this to match with a 12V 1kW inverter in a box and a 40A charger in a box. All feedback welcome. I think the terminal fuse might be overkill. Basing 1/0 AWG on...

OK to post a question with a product link?

I saw an ad for 1ga jumper cables that look like they are below cost for the wire itself. Is it OK to ask about stuff like that here or is it too much like advertising? These are 30' auto jumper cables and under $100 so this seems like a good price but it's hard to tell if they would work to...

    Ammo box "handtruck" system

My wild idea is a set of portabel power boxes based on 140mm US Army ammo cans as the cases. The Fortune 60Ah batteryies will fit 8 quite nicely with room to spare for BMS etc. so my thinking is: - Battery box(es) -- either 8s 24V x 60Ah or 2p4s 12V x 120Ah. Anderson connector. Probably...

Will a BMS use power when the battery is stored?

I'm planning a small portable (handtruck style) system for when the power is out. Will the BMS draw down the battery (or batteries) if stored for a long period?

    MPP Solar LV2424 -- 50/60 cycle problems?

I'm thinking about building a portable power station around one fo the MPP Solar LV2424 inverter/charger units. I see some feedback on Amazon abotu these units where the buyer could not get the using to go into 60 cycle 120VAC mode. The seller then suggested a transformer which sounds wrong...
