Looking for a budget inverter for level 1 charging my EV

I recommend you oversize your inverter. You should charge at 12A and that means an inverter of 3000VA is required. Not all inverters can charge EVs. Beside, if you go with Victron, one day, you can scale up to @240v with second one or even 3 more as you need.

Off Grid Tesla Model 3 Charging

Eventually you'll need a sizable battery bank and lots of solar panels. You'll need to cover winter time and raining days. Charging speed is not that important as the other two above. Charging the car during peak sun hours is good for testing out only and you will need to invest into the first...

Off Grid Tesla Model 3 Charging

Let say you charge 80% from 20% = 60% of 75Kwh battery which is about 45Kwh. And given the lost about 10%, you will need 50Kwh to charge. If you are using 12v100ah BB which is 1.25kw each, you'll need 40 of them or more. Now, if you need 5h to consume 50Kwh, that will come to 10Kwh inverter...

What setup (of relays) can do this?

The load is connect to an output from an auto switch over where inverter is the priority and grid is standby normally, inverter would be off, the output would power by the grid when the load is activated, the current sensing would close the loop and turn on the inverter then the auto switch...

recommend hookup for 24v battery bank

    What’s wrong with 100a @4p 12v 200a@2p 12v These are series to 4000amp 24v Then parallel 400a to the single piece 24v 200A?

    shattered/broken glass panels

Now I have a chance to test the output power of the panels. Each panel can barely give 25W on cloudy day which is about 75% loss of power. So they are not usable.

    shattered/broken glass panels

I requested a call from eBay and it took them over 3 hours to call me and told me nothing they can do if I open a dispute with my cc bank which I just did while waiting for that call. I'm not sure what is going next as I don't remember last time I dispute.

    shattered/broken glass panels

Keystone Liquidators have not told me what they are going to do and what is the expected time frame. This is a terrible seller. They kept my money and I can't move my project.

two 24v Victron Phoenix inverters on 48v battery bank?

thank you! I won't do it. I just want to know if it is possible. I stay with 24v and I realized that we can do over panels on the chargers. During the winter, it is rarely going over 60% of the rated panel power output and not for long. So the Victron 150/45 is almost impossible reaching/going...

    Aims or Growatt LF inverter?

I have an LF Aims 3KW that is still running like new after 7+ years. Aims support is very responsive! I recommend Aims Power!

    shattered/broken glass panels

Shipment came with broken/shattered glass panels in the picture. How do we do with these? They do give power, however.

two 24v Victron Phoenix inverters on 48v battery bank?

Yes. I want ideal output 240v split. I preferred off grid inverters (Phoenix)

two 24v Victron Phoenix inverters on 48v battery bank?

I heard it is a bad idea to share each 24v on 48v bank right?

two 24v Victron Phoenix inverters on 48v battery bank?

No worry about AC output as it is for split phase use only. Is that still ok for the Victrons ?
  22. lynhnn

two 24v Victron Phoenix inverters on 48v battery bank?

How about the 48v battery bank? They are split to serve two inverters. I assume DC/AC are fully isolated on the inverters because one inverter (DC-) is also the other inverter (DC+) as both are the mid point of the battery bank.

two 24v Victron Phoenix inverters on 48v battery bank?

Yes. I can have 2 of these each hooks to 24v in a 48v battery bank. I can combine those two to get a 240v split phase (HHL)

two 24v Victron Phoenix inverters on 48v battery bank?

I want to connect 2 Victron to create split phase 240v. Each one is hooked to a 24v (2-bb batteries). The 4 batteries are in serial for the Victron mppt charger @ 48v. Is it possible? Anyone did this before? Thanks

Victron 150/45 stops charging at 150+ open voltage

I heard someone said that 2x down conversion is more efficient than 3x or 4x on the controller. Is that true?

Victron smartshunt show phantom power consumed?

ahh! I just did a "Zero current calibration" and everything is going back to zero like it should :) I hope :)

Victron smartshunt show phantom power consumed?

I'm not sure why Victron SmartShunt (BT) shows some good power consumption but the other basic 'hall sensor shunt' shows minimal current drawn. Everything was off and the inverter was also off due to low battery shutdown. I expect to see the value of 'minimal' but the bluetooth shunt show...

Victron 150/45 stops charging at 150+ open voltage

It drops 1.2v (on 67v) vs 0.6 (on 134v). So at the end, they both drop about the same 80w/h? Am I missing something?

Victron 150/45 stops charging at 150+ open voltage

The price is steep for 250V. Now, the question is for traveling 50ft of 10awg, do I lose any significant energy going 75v PV vs 150v PV carrying the same wattage and stepping down at the controller conversion to 24V battery bank?

Victron 150/45 stops charging at 150+ open voltage

I love to do 4S and wish that Victron can handle 160V max and the problem is solved. It's not easy to do 3S mid-flight. Thanks guys!

Victron 150/45 stops charging at 150+ open voltage

4 of 24V panels in serial feeds to this Victron controller and it stops working when the open voltage is just above 150V. This is such an expensive controller and why can't it be tolerant a few open volts? Usually, the load takes the voltage down around 130V. However, it keeps stop working now...
