JKBMS RS485 or CAN Battery gauge/display

Needing to install a basic SOC, current, and voltage gauge on a lifepo4 pack with a JKBMS. It just needs to be a basic round gauge displaying SOC, current draw, and voltage. Rather than using a shunt, has anyone found an alternative to the two gauges from JKBMS? The smaller one is useless in...

Let's talk high AMP BMS reliable choices

Thanks for the head start. Appreciate all of your insight. FYI, we are building 24s 76.8v golf cart packs for use in high speed applications. They are commonplace now. my personal stretch cart recorded 47.4mph max yesterday tooling around the neighborhood. This pic is our creation for a...

    Golf Cart BMS

Just seeing your post. I have been using the b2a24s20p in both 16s and 24s packs for golf carts for a while now. No issues as of yet.

Let's talk high AMP BMS reliable choices

Hi all. Couple of questions here. I have been using the jkBMS in high speed golf cart applications for a while now and the b2a24s20p has been performing very well so I cannot complain. Recently, I have been asked to make a couple of battery packs that are a bit out of the ordinary and I would...

    JK BMS AMP Discharge Rates

Been using the JKBMS B2A24S20P in golf cart applications. They have been great and delivered as needed. There is a lot of noise in pack ratings where some quote 3 second, some 6 second, 20 etc. This particular BMS is 200A continuous and 350A peak which JK says is 30 second. Does anyone know...

Let's Talk Shunts vs Battery Monitors

Thanks. So that's a yes? the shunt should solve the issue and provide a more accurate voltage and SOC?

Let's Talk Shunts vs Battery Monitors

Trying to get my head wrapped around the differences under load of a battery monitor just connected to the + and - terminals vs a shunt installation with the monitor. I am using a 48V and 72V lifepo4 cell pack in a golf cart application. When driving and under load, using just regular + and -...

Looking for reliable battery monitor suggestions

I have a 16s 48V pack made with EVE 105ah cells and I am having a hard time finding a monitor that is fairly accurate. I have tried a few but not making much progress. In the latest example, the pack is fully charged and at rest. The voltage reading is fairly good given that it’s only I...

    JKBMS factory reset

Solved: While I was disappointed I was not able to find and answer here, I thought I would share what needs to be done if this happens to you as my contribution to the community After LOTs of internet searching, reading, and even sending JK a few emails (with still no response BTW and not the...

    JKBMS factory reset

I have done it now. Went to connect to my jkbms and I can’t pair it. I am pretty certain of the password I reset it to but it’s not working. Does anyone know the process to do a factory rest or is there a “master password” other than the 1234 that I already changed? Help is appreciated.

Can your shorten some of the BMS cell leads?

Yes I went ahead and cut each on to length as needed. Using the JKBMS app, there is no more than .002V resistence difference among all cells. Pretty much the same as before I cut them. IMO, no difference whatsoever.

Can your shorten some of the BMS cell leads?

As I was assembling my 16s 48V pack, my OCD couldn't help but to think about how the wires would look a whole lot better if I was able to shorten some of them to match lengths so there wasn't all of the excess on the ones closer to the BMS connections. I know resistance, wire size, etc does or...

What size JST is this plug? (JKBMS Small display)

I am somewhat new to all of this but I think it is the JST 6 Pin 1.25MM pinch. Just not sure of the GH, XH, etc codes. Looking for one myself. Following

    JK BMS cell count error

Edit. For anyone reading this in the future it wasn’t a bad BMS after all. With a good night sleep and some coffee ?to calm the frustration, I took another close look at everything. Turns out, one cell lead was out of sequential order and it threw everything off. It’s working well now. Lesson...

Been on the net with the vendor and JK. Bad BMS.

    JK BMS cell count error

yep. I am on 4.10.1 and i am getting voltage on all pins that is adding up to the pack voltage at #16 @ 55.91V.

    JK BMS cell count error

no it means i checked each wire for continuity from the terminal end through the plug connector to make sure each plug was good. I also checked voltages at each cell and they are fine. I have done the easy/obvious stuff. But just to put it to bed, I will do this the next time I am messing with...

    JK BMS cell count error

In the pic here I swapped the #2 and #3 leads. The data did move but not to #3 as I would have expected. It went to #4. ?‍♂️. I thought JK was a good brand. Am I missing something? Seems very odd new out of the box.

    JK BMS cell count error

Considering 7 of the 16 work I am confident I can rule out wiring. Any thoughts on troubleshooting for a bad BMS?

    JK BMS cell count error

Pulling my hair out. After lots of reading and Dr Google, I can’t pinpoint the problem. Just hooked up the 2A24s jkbms. Turns on fine amd seems to be working fine with the exception of a cell count error. Cell data is only showing 7 of the 16 cells. All data pins have continuity through...

    JKBMS Cell wiring

I have the JKBMS JK-B2A24S connected in a 16s 48V configuration. Everything seems to be working fine other than the 2.3" display ( in another thread). As I was going through the directions and connecting everything, the thought occurred to me that there was no clear guidance whether or not it...

    JKBMS 2.3" active switch display

I am using a JKBMS JK-B2A24S and trying to use their 2.3" power board active switch display below. Everything seems to work fine. It plugs in directly to the BMS and it turns the BMS off and on. The problem I am having is that the display screen turns off (not the BMS) after only a minute or...

    How to cut G10-FR4 insulators

Looking for suggestions on how to trim down sheets of 1MM G10 FR4 insulating sheets. I have looked all over the net and see lots of idea but curious what you guys are doing. I have lots of them to do and would like them to look halfway decent when done. I.E. straight and smooth cuts. I was...

Yet another to balancing post - active balancing BMS

Long time lurker, second post. I would like to pose a question to the experts without starting a religious or zealot firestorm here. I am in the process of making a 72V 24s 105H LiFePo4 pack for a golf cart using a 24s 2A active balancer. I am going through the parallel top balancing process...

    Docan EVE304 aH

Can you expand on the statement that Docan only sells grade B. I don't think that's accurate. At least I don't think so. I Just picked up a couple of their EVE 105ah cells. All specs and indications appear to be Grade A but I would like to hear more. Thanks

    63MM busbar source?

I am building a 48v pack with 105ah EVE cells. The screws are M4. The ones that came with the cells are 38MM and they work fine when putting them in parallel but i need to connect them in series with two rows side to side. It looks like I need 64MM center hole to center hole bars. I have...

First Post - Great Information here - Top Balancing

I am in it already but if/when I do this again, I would highly consider the extra $ for the TeKPower 1560 version. That outta make much shorter work of this process. :)

First Post - Great Information here - Top Balancing

I tested a few and they were all 3.28v when i started. Yes, PAINFULLY slow. Great point though and I am now curious. If someone was doing a very large ah pack like a 48v 16s x 304ah pack, how would you speed up this process properly?
