No PV recognized on my MPPT LV6548 all in one system?

Well, that was the most frustrating troubleshooting ive ever done in my life. I was verifying voltage at the tips of the MC4 connectors, but as soon as i plugged them into the ports on the unit, the voltage would vanish just 2 inches away. So i put my charger leads right on the PV board inputs...

No PV recognized on my MPPT LV6548 all in one system?

it shows voltage at the MC4 connections that touch the PV inputs. I guess i could open it up and see if there is any voltage at any point downline inside the unit? Doing this out in the Arizona desert in the heat with biting flies.. not fun.

No PV recognized on my MPPT LV6548 all in one system?

Yeah polarity is good, my volt meter confirms it, and when i hook up my panel directly to the PV inputs, you cant really get it wrong - male to female, female to male.

No PV recognized on my MPPT LV6548 all in one system?

I have a brand new MPPT LV6548, having had good experience with the 24volt version. I just set up the system today with 4 SOK 100ah batteries in series. Batteries are fine and the MMPT sees them fine. I dont have any utility power source, but the AC out is blowing a floor fan using battery...

What breakers or fuses do I need for a solar fridge simple setup?

I just bought a small 6cubic feet solar refrigerator (12/24v) that I need to build a temporary rig for. It pulls 53watts. Will be using for 2 months in Dallas where we get a fair amount of sun in the summer. My plan is to run (2) 240watt poly panels (used ones from SanTan solar, already...

    48 volt safety

Fortunately I am doing this system under a "no permit required" situation so i dont have to follow all codes, but I don't want to kill myself either. And as safe as I try to be, on my 24v system I caused a short across battery terminals TWICE, just by being sloppy. It was enough to cause small...

    48 volt safety

I am building my first 48 volt system, and I hear Will's comments about getting shocked and being careful, but im not finding much information on how to put safety in practice. Does any have a resource or list of DONT's when it comes to working around 48volts? When a discharge capacitor is...

    Is this normal?

Update: looks like the input posts had loosened themselves due to road vibration. Tightened them and the voltage went back to normal.

    Is this normal?

I bought a 12volt load center / fuse block from Amazon. the voltage going into it from my 24>12volt converter is 12.3volts consistently. But When I put the multimeter on the connectors, I get about 10.8 volts. None of the wires are getting 12volts from the bus. Is this normal? My Iceco fridge...

Too good to be true? Legit?

Interesting. I ordered 16 cells not too long ago from Aliexpress and then they RAISED the price a few hundred dollars during the worst of the supply chain issues. Now we have these cheapies. I read the warning, but it didn't say the batteries were fake/counterfeit, just that they were grey...

So how to connect this to an all in one MPPT controller and 12v bus?

So with this setup, Do I just take the bottom positive and just run it to a pos. bus bar, that then sends out two pos. lines - one to my MPPT2424 in, and the other to the 24>12volt converter? Sound right? And run the top negative to the MPPT neg in? Thanks in advance for help!

Just got my CALB cells! 16 cells = 24volts = but they came with BATTERY CRABS!

Hey guys, I juts got my CALB cells from China (after watching Will review them), it took two months! But here is a video of me unboxing them and discussing how I will use / configure in my solar array which is a cargo trailer conversion into a motorcycle hauling travel trailer... Cargo Trailer...

Showcasing your solar components in acrylic boxes - like a giant gaming PC?

Yeah I was thinking about just one side being acrylic. The active /passive venting question is a good one though. Something for me to consider.

Thats a beauty! Are you a machinist? Or just have access to good tools?

Showcasing your solar components in acrylic boxes - like a giant gaming PC?

I am starting to build a system for my cargo trailer. Instead of hiding it in a plywood box, i think it would be cool to put all components and wiring inside a casethat has an acrylic / clear / plexiglass type front so you could see it all. Of course the wriing would have tobe clean and the...

    All-in-one

    All-in-one

uhoh, mine didnt power on, not even a beep. Granted it was a single 12v battery, but i figured it would throw an error/beep at least

    All-in-one

Newbie question on these MPP all in one units. Will they power on without PV input? In other words, can you provide A/C input and battery connection, and power the unit on? Or must it detect PV current to power on? Just bought one but it doesnt power on yet . No solar array yet to plug into it...

How to test new MPP Controller with no batteries?

I just got a brand new 24v MPP Solar All-in One charge controller/ inverter unit from China, based on Will's recommendations. I have panels and this unit, but my 16 battery cells have not arrived yet. All I have is a car battery and a small 12v motorcycle battery. What is the best way to test...

Building a cargo trailer conversion to travel trailer for boondocking

I spent most of yesterday putting insulation in the walls. Just 1" R6. I can probably finnish that today if I find my motivation on this rainy day. I was researching water tanks last night and I think I'll have 20-26 gallon sitting on a wheel well, just for quick showers. Kitchen sink water...

Building a cargo trailer conversion to travel trailer for boondocking

Thanks for writing that up. I will need to read through it a few times to fully "get it" but when you mentioned the bearing and bolt for rotation, that immediately opened up some ideas for me. If you get around to sketching up a diagram,I'd love to see it!

What are the wiring options when you have 10 panels? Series with different total voltages - do they play nice?

Ahh yes, Ahh yes, you are correct, 145 volts in, so I guess 5S2P is my ideal setup. And i think the answer to having "extra panels" is that they will just "dumb down" the system (or average it) due to the lower voltage, so there's no point, huh? Or go 3S3P and find a use for the other panel...

What are the wiring options when you have 10 panels? Series with different total voltages - do they play nice?

so many numbers LOL. I guess I was looking at the max charging current of 80amps. I'm not clear on the max input amps actually.

What are the wiring options when you have 10 panels? Series with different total voltages - do they play nice?

Thank you. The panels lsc is 5.7amps each and the max input amps is 80 amps. Its one of these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2400w-24V-110Vac-Solar-Inverter-60A-battery-charger-80A-MPPT-solar-charger/272998194866 Thanks for your feedback / help!

Building a cargo trailer conversion to travel trailer for boondocking

Believe it or not, I have no weight estimates, no budget, and no strategy LOL. Not entirely, but I take the approach of "it'll cost what it costs" - i'll just buy things and build it as my cashflow situation allows for. But i paid 4.3k for the trailer, will put about $3,500 into the solar...

Building a cargo trailer conversion to travel trailer for boondocking

Wow, that sounds like an amazing rig! Security is definitely important although I admit not having put too much thought into my security - yet! I dont plan on living in mine full time, but I might do a month at a time, possibly longer, but I do have a homebase to come back to as needed. Im...

What are the wiring options when you have 10 panels? Series with different total voltages - do they play nice?

Newb question; If I have 10 identical panels, each with open circuit voltage of 20volts. And I have a max 80volt all-in-one MPP inverter/controller.. what are my options for series/parralel of the panels? a series of 5 panels is too much voltage. A series of 4 is fine, and I can parallel two of...

Building a cargo trailer conversion to travel trailer for boondocking

Happy to be here. I've been enjoying Will's videos for a few weeks now and I'm starting to buy my gear but have some newbie questions, of course. I have purchased a used 8x18' cargo trailer that I will use to haul a motorcycle to national parks and National Forest land, where I want to be able...
