Simple All-in-One system with MPP Solar 812LV-MS

    1. Assuming Your 100w solar panels are 12V and have an open circuit voltage about 22V as usual, you have to connect them 2 series 2 parallel, if you connect all in series you will be near the SSC limits and that is dangerous. 2. I don't know, I just connected them directly without breaker or...

Simple All-in-One system with MPP Solar 812LV-MS

I started using WatchPower yesterday to monitor the inverter, it was a pain to make it work, you have to make sure the cable is good and you have to give it all permissions on the firewall, also, if you reinstall it this will create a new register in the firewall apps, I had to remove it from...

    MPP 3048 advice

I've read that these are for sensitive appliances if you are worried about load interruptions., it says there is no transfer time between AC-AC and DC-AC mode. Also, they are split phase capable up to 3 phase, and you can connect up to 9 in parallel. I'm curious about these units as well, maybe...

How to do a search here?

Sometimes it is hard to search for a specific topic, there are multiple subforums so you have to be patient while searching. Check this recent thread, someone asked if he should "upgrade" from 12V to 24v or 48V systems, higher voltage system doesn't mean to be better, it depends on your needs.

MPP Solar out of Taiwan any good?

Go for option 2, max 2 in series, you should avoid getting near max voltages as its not safe. Also, your Vdc cant be lower than 30V or it wont start charging, so 2 in series will get you between 30-115Vdc and thats what you want for your SCC to work properly and safe.

    Extra wire, connectors, "stuff"

For solar panels to SCC just get 12 AWG solar cables, renogy has good cables for that purpose you can get them from amazon. Also, if you dont want to make your battery cables you can always buy windynation ones. Check Will's page for recommended wires. If your SSC says 400w for 12V it should...

    New build some advise please

Yes, that is the correct connection to get a 12V battery with 8 cells, but you will need 2 BMS for it, one 4S for every 4 cells connected in series

Which MPP Solar model is better for my system?

I already explain why you should not go for 48V, larger inverters will have more iddle consumption which is not good. Also, 48V is not a safe voltage, you can get shocked if you don't know what you are doing. I'm not familiar with those MK units, maybe someone else can help on when you should...

Which MPP Solar model is better for my system?

Is the hybrid the green one? those are for grid-tie, but Will said they come with that feature disabled so you can use it for off-grid, just make sure before buying, if you are not sure just go for the 2424LV-MSD, the white one. About shipping, if you are from USA or America go for USA MPP...

Which MPP Solar model is better for my system?

Will recomends 270W solar panels, they are cheaper than 300w, based on watts per dolar, 300w cost 345$ and 270w cost 262$, i wont buy the 300w for that price lol. Also there is an offer for 3 270W solar panels for 629$ on amazon, that makes no sense lol, 2 of them cost 575$, and 6 panels is...

Which MPP Solar model is better for my system?

Yes, you can wire the batteries in parallel to get the same 24V and double Ah, just check your batteries specs and make sure your batteries supports parallel connection. Those units have a working temp range from 0 to 55° centigrade. This unit supports up yo 2000w PV array(solar panels) you...

Which MPP Solar model is better for my system?

Well I think you are misunderstanding those units, you don't get kwh from an inverter but from a battery, the inverter wattage its the max watt appliances you can keep working at the same time, with a greater inverter, you will get more continuous watts for your appliances, but the capacity of...

MPP Solar - disable inverter while leaving mppt charger active?

They are pretty much the same, the only difference is that the inverter says 1000w instead of 800w. Everything else is the same, PV max watts and voltage, etc. Here is a pdf from mpp solar.

MPP Solar out of Taiwan any good?

They are originally from Taiwan, but I think they have a dealer in the USA. Easier to return for warranty if you are there. I have a 12V unit, a lot of people are using these units worldwide.

When do I give my battery bank it's first charge?

Do you have any way yo charge your batteries? AGM batteries should not be left discharged for long periods and 3 years is a lot, also be careful not to overcharge them.
  21. J

When do I give my battery bank it's first charge?

Batteries self-discharge may vary depending on manufacturer or battery type, I think AGM is about 1% to 3% every month, you should check the batteries voltage with a multimeter. I don't think those batteries will be in good shape though.
  22. J

When do I give my battery bank it's first charge?

Yes, it was on my Mpp Solar unit, but it seems that other SCC have the same default configuration for AGM batteries so i wont use the default AGM config on any SCC without checking.

When do I give my battery bank it's first charge?

Well, I ruined my battery using the default AGM settings on my SSC, low voltage cut off is usually 10.5V for those default AGM settings which if not right, I just changed the SSC to User-defined battery type and reset the Low voltage cut off to 12.0V to avoid damaging my next battery. You have...

    LiFePO4 best deal

For lifepo4 cells ill suggest you this dealer from alibaba, lot of people here are buying the 280Ah cells for DIY batteries, they have 105Ah cells as well, dont forget to tell them you came from DiySolarPowerForum. For BMS you should go for the ones people already tested and proved to work...

When do I give my battery bank it's first charge?

New batteries will come charged, at 12.x voltage, dont know what is the specific voltage but i soppose that depend on battery type. An AGM battery its completely dischared at 10.5V so be carefull if you dont know what you are doing or you will ruin your batteries, i discharged my AGM battery...

    Using half a panel?

You Yes, you can configure it to auto-switch to the grid when the battery is in a certain voltage, or even using the battery only when there is no grid available. You can't use solar input to run your appliances without a battery, so having this without a battery is useless.
  27. J

    Using half a panel?

I dont know if it can be used without a battery, but even if it can be used in bypass mode its useless, imagine an UPS wihout a battery, your appliances will turn off when you have no grid connection or when the voltage of the grid is too high or too low. Ive heard of some 'special' mpp units...

    Using half a panel?

Yeah, i think they replaced the 800w model with a 1000w model. You can add up to 2 of these panels to your mpp solar unit, add them in parallel to be safe with the voltage ranges, dont wire them in series.

    Using half a panel?

This can handle only up to 100w on solar panels, and the battery is very small also. Im not familiar with those solar generators, i prefer having a separated battery bank, im currently using a MPP solar 12V, it is an All in one system it has a 800w inverter and a 40A SSC, you should consider...

Got 12 volt should i upgraded to 24 or 48 volt?

It depends on your needs, 12V is simpler and safer to install, but if you have high Watts demand you should use a 24v system or even a 48V system. I don't think you will be saving money with batteries, a 12v 100AH battery cost almost the same as a 24V 50AH battery and they will produce the same...

    Using half a panel?

You should be able to use almost every SSC with these solar panels, you don't need to get less voltage. If you have a small SSC you could just add solar panels in parallel to avoid increasing the VOC but it depends on which SSC you will be using. Currently, I have a small 12v system with a 40A...

    Renogy System Help

AGM batteries tend to lose capacity over time, the batteries could be discharging faster because they are losing capacity. If you DOD your batteries more than 50% they will last less, I discharged my AGM battery to 100% by mistake and now it has about 25% of its normal capacity, and its only 6...

Help required - too many amps coming from solar panels

You have to check your batteries max charge rate also, for agm its usually safe to charge at 0.2C rate, that means a 100Ah battery should be charged at 20A max, 200ah at 40A etc, so i think you are fine by getting the max 40A from your SSC. This could change based on your battery specs, but...

Help required - too many amps coming from solar panels

You definitely need a larger breaker, i think 50A will be good. If you connect 2 batteries in parallel you will get a 12V battery with double AH, if you connect them in series you will get a 24V battery with same AH The Mppt will convert the watts to whatever your battery needs, so 600W / 12V...
