AliExpress asking for personal financial info

I tried to make my first ever purchase from AliExpress and the payment did not go through. I was directed to another page that told me that I could "appeal" the decision. The info that they need is
  • a photocopy of my driver's license,
  • my credit card including the name, number and security code
  • a photocopy of a bank statement.
I am like WTF?!?!? I would sooner give a photo of my genitalia than to provide that financial info. I have never even had the most blatant scammer ask for anything like that. I went to the help chat to see how to resolve it and they said without providing that info, tuff luck.

I may not ever make an Ali purchase!

They're probably trying to check to see if your "social credit score" is where it needs to be. ?

All jokes aside, there's absolutely no way I would give them that information. Make a new account and order to a family member or friend.

Here is the appeal page I was directed to. Anyone else ever run into this?

I only have one credit card so don't have any other account I can use. I am checking with my bank to see if it is a problem on my end.
Has anyone else ever seen this "Appeal" page?

I've ordered things up to $1500 and have never been asked for any extra verification. It might be understandable for very large $$ transactions though. If you don't mind me asking, how much was the order for?

The code it is showing is

CSC_7200026
Due to security reason, card verification(appeal) is required.
Please click "Claim on Alipay" button or click to submit document directly.
It usually takes 1-3 working days to get a result. But during Shopping Festival, we will make it as soon as possible.

Very weird. You could always try using a PayPal account. A lot of merchants don't actually track you by your credit card, they go by your physical address. Your credit card information is usually a separate thing done by a third party payment processor. There's also vpns that offer free trials, it might be worth downloading one and using it to make your new account and order.

DH Gate is also a great alternative to AliX. I've used it successfully quite a bit.

try a different vendor. I don't think that is standard for most vendors.
I tried a $39 purchase from a different vendor and got the same thing. It seems to be AliExpress that is locking me out.

I checked with my credit card company and there is no problem on my end.

Nor was there any problem with my bank. My point was the request for payment was never even seen by Chase, at least at the level I could ascertain. My guess is the Chase servers routinely reject packets coming from China. I know I have to use a VPN when traveling there just to make an inquiry.

I did use PayPal for a $10k EVE cell order through Amy Wan of Shenzhen Luyuan to somewhat avoid the credit card issue but then sounds like using credit card is a safer bet if you don't trust the vendor. My JK BMS was also ordered through PayPal on AliExpress..

I just tried to purchase my cells on Alibaba and got the same thing.

I got the same thing, yesterday.
I closed the app, and purchased elsewhere.

Then I realized that there are really a lot of scammers on the Internet. Pretty quickly I started checking out different sites and came across Aussie Play Casino No Deposit Bonus Codes this is a really great resource where everything is proven and reliable. You can also get a promo code there, with the help of which the chances of winning become even greater.
It's really good that you didn't give them the information. There are really a lot of scammers on the Internet, which I myself came across. Sometimes it's better to use cash.

Under no circumstances provide that info.

It’s becoming more and more “normal” for sites to ask for your shoe size to sell you something.

F that noise. Go elsewhere. And pay cash whenever you can.
