Depending on the converter it may not have lithium charge settings (CC/CV).
The MPT-7210A is a decent cheapy from China from what I read. I think it's limited to 600w output but should be around $50. Does a wide range of voltages but I'm not sure if it goes down to 12V. It's green and made by Juntek IIRC.
I would like to do this too. Just drug home a SOK battery for my 48V golf cart that powers a 2500W inverter to backfeed my house breaker panel. The SOK will handle the instantaneous heavy loads, and my son’s Chevy Bolt 12V accessory battery will keep the SOK slow charged over time. The Bolt big battery charges the 12V battery. Simple and cheap solution.
