Critter Guards on new solar installation- worth it?

Hi;

I was quoted for critter guard on my solar rooftop install and I was wondering if this is a real problem that I need to solve? I haven't read the specific warranty but I figured enough people are on the forum to have real life experiences.

Never been an issue for us but I guess it depends on your local critters. Only concern I would have for a rooftop is the potential for such guards to end up being leaf and debris catchers, which ends up damaging the roof and/or presents a fire hazard in fire prone areas.

keep all trees well-trimmed and far away from the house and you'll never have a problem. squirrels and flying insects are the main problems.

don't give squirrels a way to drop down from the tree and they'll never be on your roof.

for insects, get on the roof and inspect in spring and fall at a minimum.
