I was after some sort of inverter (LV) capable to recharge from grid at certain hours and discharge on peak hours when my electricity sky rocketed recently and capable to limit export to 0.
I got my hands on a brand new Solis Rai 3k 48es 5G inverter a few months ago. (It was my very first project of this kind and power level). When my 14s40p diy battery was finished i have learnt that Solis and Daly weren't quite good friends and there was no CAN communication available between this 2.
Long story short i complained directly to Daly about this shortcomings (i bought 2 of their bms) and they eventually got me in contact with one of their technicians. I was instructed to update BMS firmware and use a laptop/desktop to do that using one of their uart-usb adaptors (which i ordered separately) and all i can say is that Daly and Solis seems to be best friends now.

I didn't try all protocols available through Daly settings. First i set my Solis inverter to Pylontech protocol and Daly BMS has seen that as some Givenergy rs485 but it didn't work. So i set my Solis to user-def battery and i tried Daly settings one by one. Victron Energy -CAN was the first to turn off alarm led on Solis inverter. I'm more than pleased with that and i stopped testing at this stage.
My diy battery is going to fit in a 2u server case at some point in the near future and I may test some more protocols then and there.

So far so good and many thanks to Daly technicians

When my 14s40p diy battery was finished...
Looking good :). Out of curiosity, did it work out cheaper using 560 18650 cells, rather than 16 LiFePO4 prismatics... or do you just get high on solder flux? ;)

Hi, can you share that firmware please?
This firmware was requested for my 14s bms 60A. I would suggest you ask for firmware directly from Daly, they seem to have good support/customer services.

Hi guys, I had the same issues with my Solis inverter and a Daly BMS, same as posters issues, I downloaded the firmware posted and it fixed my CAN connection issues using the same settings, User-define in the inverter and Victron CAN in the BMS, all seems to be working as expected now, SOC, voltage etc all read as they should and no longer getting the alarms in the inverter. (had to completely restart the inverter after setting up for alarms to go)

As an update, Daly sent me a OTA upgrade link which in the November 2023 release of this firmware which seems to be even better, and maybe even a bit quicker to respond, it takes about 40mins to update so if you do it make sure you have plenty of phone battery and are close to the BMS so you don't lose signal.

the upgrade code is: GVYTWO (case sensitive)
this will upgrade you to software version 11_231111_INVT

As said before only use if you have the same BMS although the OTA update shouldn't let you do it if its not compatible

Thank you @casbury67 the upgrade code works and I have updated both of my BMS's 200A 16s - everything is working as expected, rs485, can and plyon protocol which i use to connect to Growatt inverters.

Would be nice to have a changelog but looks these Chinese companies doesn't know this word :)
