Just to be sure, you can communicate with the other batteries using the BMS Tools software....
Yes, that's fine No case-by-case needed.@SignatureSolarJess Can you confirm generically that it is always ok to try connecting an EG4 18A charger to an EG4 battery in shutdown or error state? Or do you prefer that Signature support make a recommendation to the user on a case by case basis?
When I get home later, I can remove one of the batteries from the array and check a known good battery. I did have to update the firmware on them when I got my 6000XP, so have gone through the update and tools utility, but most of the communication is to the inverter via daisy chain.Just to be sure, you can communicate with the other batteries using the BMS Tools software....
Thanks, will also try charging it while attended for about 10 minutes when I get home. And will have my voltmeter monitor the voltages on the terminal side. Also useful to check the internal voltage to see if it is getting through?w

No, people have asked about it and Signature's stance so far is that they will replace failures under warranty but they don't sell spares or loose parts. On a related note, does any stock up on extra BMSes as a backup measure for their batteries? Is it possible to buy the same BMS, without the battery in case of future failures? I have a backup inverter solution since the life expectancy on it is significantly lower than the panels and batteries, but curious about backups for other components as well.
Not just yet. Let's see if the charging works first. If you're still experiencing problems, we recommend contacting the Tech department to ensure that all necessary steps have been taken before opening the unit. They will also document the opening to avoid voiding any warranty. Thanks, will also try charging it while attended for about 10 minutes when I get home. Thanks, will wait a bit for support, since I won't be around to do anything just yet anyway. Per the steps provided so far by technical support, I was instructed to remove the case and investigate for any signs of burn damage or cell damage. No sign of damage, only a persistent high pitched sound. Not just yet. Let's see if the charging works first. Will do and will update this thread this evening with pictures.Since the top of the battery is already open, would you mind capturing some images of the BMS board? This will enable us to examine the Mosfets closely to check for any signs of damage.
I would keep running it like that for 10 minutes or so, while you're nearby of course. When it goes into search mode it might get a little bit of juice in each time. But at this point it is maybe sounding a little more odd than just shutdown mode. The charger is acting odd, it turns on for a few seconds, then turns off. Clicks on, waits a few seconds and then off. The behaviour may either be Trickle Charging or Low/Bad battery by the description. I think because there is also a green light alternating with the red light it falls under tbe Low/Bad battery indication the front of the charger.
Yeah. The thing SS has been curious about is the lack of alarm light. Apparantly the light will be present for all sorts of conditions, but since the 15th, no leds have lit up from any procedure. No luck just yet on the charging activity front. Will double check terminal voltage afterwards to see if it's still 27ishV.I would keep running it like that for 10 minutes or so, while you're nearby of course. I think it should, but it hasn't hahah. I've had it off for nearly a day and when I got back to it, still heard the low volume, high pitched buzz/whirr/hum.I'd probably turn the breaker off then and wait for Signature's instructions. The buzz should stop when the breaker is off right?
