I’ve received 2 quotes this week to install a full grid tied system. One from Blue Raven, the other from Freedom Forever. I’m struggling to pay them over $3/watt for grid-tied panels (without battery backup) when I know I can DIY my own system WITH batteries for half the price. Only problem is I can’t afford to purchase everything up front.

Does anyone know if there is financing available direct to consumer for DIY solar systems?

I was looking at https://joinmosaic.com/ but it’s only for contractors to offer to their customers.

Connecticut provides subsidized loans. Home equity loans qualify for mortgage interest deduction if for your primary residence.

Stay away from scams like these.
Better to start small, save and build up as you can afford

Just saw my first solar scam. The ad shows to watt hour meters, one on left shows $250 per month without solar and the one on the right showed $15 per month with solar grid tie. Not here in FL. I should have kept the web address to post here.
Edit, here is link to suspect scam

I did couple of solar installations on my properties and paid out of pocket. Now that the pocked is empty, I wondered whether I can get a solar cash out loan for them. Has anyone had any experience with cash out loans?

I understand your concern about upfront costs. Have you looked into solar financing options? Companies like Blue Raven and Freedom Forever often offer payment plans, letting you install professionally without paying everything upfront. Even DIY setups can use personal loans or solar-specific financing to ease the initial expense.

I tried contacting a couple when I built mine but they seemed scammy. I ended up going to the bank and getting something like a HELOC as mentioned above. My bank had 2 options, a traditional HELOC and one that was more improvement based. The improvement based one had a lower interest rate and better payoff options but was fixed so I picked that route and haven't looked back. Once I get my tax credit next year, I'll slap all of that down on the loan and cut it 1/3.
