Hello from Switzerland (and Kenya) sunny folks!
I am new to the forum and literally stumbled in while researching for my upcoming, first ever solar project. I thought I would share what I have been up-to so far and listen to any thoughts/advice the community may have. The project site is down in Kenya. In the past weeks, I have been in discussion with Sunpal Power and I am currently looking at round figure of USD 5000/- for the the following rig:
1) 15pcs X 400W Solar panels (monocrystalline) for USD1500/-
2) 4pcs Lithium battery (12V, 2.5KWH each) for USD 2040/-. These would be arranged in series into a 48V bank.
3) Roof mounting structure for the panels (around USD 700)
4) PV Cable for around 100USD
5) Packaging: USD180
6) Admin costs, COC export certification charge: USD 400/-
Before contacting this seller, I did as much research on them as one could from a keyboard i.e., checking that they are a verified manufacturer, their products are active, have good reviews and no serious complaint anywhere Google-able, all products I am getting are TUV/CE/UL certified etc. They also come with decent warranty- at least on paper for now. The seller appears unwilling to throw in an extra battery/ some 5 extra panels but all in all, it appears to be a reasonable offer. What do you folks think, especially those who've bought off Alibaba?
I intend to get an SMA / Growatt inverter (5KW or marching total PV array power of 6KW) to complete the system. That would set me back another USD1000-USD1500 I think. It is pretty tough finding a reputable SMA Inverter seller with pricing indicated upfront that will ship to Kenya Amazon style though. I did find www.europe-solarstore.com with a really nice product catalog but they are not responsive. It has been a week since my inquiry so I'll pass and probably get a Growatt elsewhere. In any case, has anyone bought from www.europe-solarstore.com? They do not list any physical business address or have online presence anywhere else which I find strange...
I have worked with solar systems (and had my fun with flooded lead acid batteries) before but those were tiny kits <1KW: much less plug and play compared to what I am planning but also much less powerful. Any wise counsel on any aspect of my lil essay up there is very much welcome. Thank you!
