After reading many threads about not using polarized breakers as PV disconnects, I am still wondering about this Midnight 2pp breaker if it should or could be used safely as OCP and Disconnect? I bought a 50A version thinking I could use it this way but then started reading bad things about using polarized breakers as PV disconnect. I realize the breaker I have is 600V so each side is only 300V my system is only Voc x1.56 142V.

This would be outside in a Midnight box and I realize it is not code compliant since it would in inside the box.

I want to know since this is a polarized breaker if it is safe or would it be safer to use disconnect IMO switch and then combiner box with OCP. System is Off Grid.

A single 2-pole breaker is fine as disconnect for entire array, no other PV going by separate path to same MPPT input.

The polarity you show looks correct.

The problem with polarized breakers is only if used for multiple PV strings which are combined in parallel downstream. Because if one PV string gets shorted, the other strings dump current in the wrong direction through its breaker.
